What Ozempic / Wegovy alternatives are available?
Re: What Ozempic / Wegovy alternatives are available?
Oct 30, 2023
Potentially more readily available Ozempic alternatives would be Saxenda and Wegogovy. Saxenda(liraglutide) is more readily available, but is a daily injection and may not be quite as effective as Ozempic for weight loss. A second alternative is Wegovy, while this medication has the same active peptide as Ozempic which is Semaglutide, it's prepared dosage is different and is more readily available.
Ozempic vs. Wegovy vs. Mounjaro vs. Rybelsus comparison - What's best?
Re: Ozempic vs. Wegovy vs. Mounjaro vs. Rybelsus
Oct 30, 2023
These medications are all considered in the GLP-1 class, which mesns Glucagon like peptide agonists. They are used to treat type 2 Diabetes. Wegovy is currently FDA approved for weight loss. Rybelsus is an oral capsule taken daily. Currently being studied for weight loss approval. Ozempic is currently used for treatment of type 2 DM and weight loss. It is a once weekly injection. Ozempic has been shown to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death due to heart disease. Wegovy is FDA...
Overweight by 50lbs & tried other weight loss for gain attributed to menopause - can I try ozempic?
Re: Overweight by 50lbs & tried other weight loss
Oct 30, 2023
Ozempic (Semaglutide) is a GLP-1 agonist FDA approved for treatment of type 2 DM. It is also very effective for weight. It's use requires a physician evaluation and iOS a prescription medication. It's use generally requires pre approval to be covered by insurance. Typically, approval requires a diagnosis of type 2 DM, in addition to elevated BMI, and risk factors such as hypertension. It is used off label for weight loss, but this is generally not covered by insurance. I would recommend you...
Would laser hair removal cause acne like this?
Re: Would laser hair removal cause acne like this?
Oct 30, 2023
Acne can be exacerbated by laser hair removal. The laser can disrupt the skin's normal bacterial balance, which can result in an overgrowth of certain bacteria likely to cause acne. It sounds as if you've tried many of the therapeutic options. These would include moisturizers, retinols, antibiotics, spironolactone, steroid creams ,chemical peels, LED light therapy, microdermabrasion. Other considerations with regards to new acne would include dietary changes and/or hormonal fluctuations,...
Dysport on my 11s. I can still see faint lines. What else can be done?
Re: Dysport on my 11s. I can still see faint lines. What else can be done?
Oct 30, 2023
Thank you for your question. From the pic, it appears that you still have quite a bit of movement. I wonder if you had the corrugators injected in addition to the procerus? In terms of alternative or combo therapies, you could consider smooth threads placed in the glabellar complex. These promote collagen formation over time. Skin tightening treatments also may be beneficial, such as RF/microneedling, ultherapy. Laser resurfacing and LED light therapy would also be potential treatments. It...
RF Microneedling with PRF for eye troughs - what are the risks associated with this procedure?
Re: RF Microneedling with PRF for eye troughs - what are the risks associated with this procedure?
Oct 4, 2023
Radio frequency with microneedling and PRF is generally considered to be a safe and effective treatment of the tear trough area. However, conditions to discuss with your provider would include, active acne, keloid, eczema, rosacea, and active infection.
This treatment potentially improves fine lines , hollows , and pigment. One should see results within 6 weeks of treatment, and improvement my continue over 3-4 months. Outcomes my last from 1-1.5 years. The procedure can be repeated at...
Can I switch from IPL treatments to laser hair treatments?
Re: Can I switch from IPL treatments to laser hair treatments?
Oct 4, 2023
You can definitely switch from IPL to Laser for hair removal. However, I would recommend having a complementary consultation with a qualified/experienced provider to assess your skin type, hair color and timing of initiating treatment. As the IPL has been shown to negatively impact the efficiency of the Laser treatments.
Hope this helps, and best of luck with your treatments.
