Answer Snippet
Would Kybella help after Necktite?
No to Kylbella and No to Energy Treatments to the Neck
Sep 18, 2020
Kybella and/or any form of energy device will be a waste of your time and money. The indications shown in the photo can only be addressed with a facelift if you expect to have measurable change.
Am I a bad candidate for rhinoplasty? I’ve been told I have thick skin and its limiting on what
Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
Aug 25, 2020
It is true that thicker skin can limit tip definition in rhinoplasty. The photos show a thick skinned nasal tip with cephalic orientation of the lower lateral cartilages, accentuating the width of your nose. In such circumstances, the lower lateral (tip) cartilages can be conservatively reduced in size (7-8 mm is a safe width), and additional suture techniques are utilized to address the cephalic orientation. Reducing the size of the cartilages alone may not be enough.
Can I get a facelift if I take warfarin? Other options for sagging skin?
Facelift and Warfarin
Aug 24, 2020
This is an issue that you will need to discuss with your Internist, because you cannot have a facelift while on warfarin or heparin. With portal vein thrombosis, you may be considered too high a risk for elective surgery. Some of the anti-platelet agents(dabigatran/ pradaxa) have a shorter half life and can be stopped up to 48 hours prior to surgery. However, whether or not you are suitable to make such a change is up to your medical team.
What amount of time is reasonable for time under general anesthetic (70 year old woman)?
Facelift Duration
Aug 24, 2020
In my hands, an uncomplicated primary facelift takes about 3 hours of operative time. It’s really 3 procedures: the neck (platysmplasty), one side of the face, and the other. Eight hours to perform a facelift alone is a rather long case. Even when I perform multiple procedures (upper and lower blepharoplasty, browlift, resurfacing, etc.), it is rare to exceed 6 hours. However, as long as you are healthy physiologically, a 3-6 hour case is entirely reasonable. Most of my cases are…
Is a drainless facelift more dangerous?
Are Drainless Facelifts More Dangerous?
Aug 24, 2020
As a Facial Plastic Surgeon who has performed over 1,000 facelifts, I have performed facelifts with and without drains. As long as your Surgeon is experienced, shows you many results that impress you, and can offer a rational that makes sense to you, use of drains or lack of drains shouldn’t be primary in your decision making process. One addition to my practice in the last three years is use of tranexamic acid, which drastically reduces hematomas and seromas; I do think that this is very…
