Dr. Shah started his medical education at age 15, when he was accepted into the prestigious combined BS-MD program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He earned his medical degree at 21, then went on to complete a residency in general surgery at the Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California.

During this time, Dr. Shah received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery and performed a wide range of surgeries, including heart, trauma, and breast cancer surgery. He then pursued a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, where he honed his skills in cosmetic surgery. His precise hand and artistic eye has earned him the Best of Bakersfield award since 2004 and each year since. He is board eligible for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

In addition to authoring articles published in academic journals and lecturing on topics related to surgery, Dr. Shah gives back to the community by volunteering his time and talents to those who are less fortunate. He regularly travels internationally to India and countries in Africa and South America via his nonprofit organization, The Promise, to correct cleft lips and palates and treat burn injuries.
