Solution for nasolabial “unevenness/denting”? Do any plastic surgeons see what I do and know what
Cheek filler to rebalance facial volume
Aug 11, 2019
Although I would definitely recommend an in-person consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon, it appears you are having some separation in your cheek contour due to volume loss.  When the cheeks lose a little bit of volume, which is normal even in your 30s, the medial cheek fat pad descends and creates contour abnormalities in the nasolabial fold.  Injectable filler such as Juvèderm Voluma or Radiesse could be utilized to improve your cheek volume loss and rebalan...
What is the best course of action if I’m young and have really bad nasolabial folds and tear troug
Lots of options
Jul 29, 2019
Based on your photographs and question, injectable fillers may be able to give you some more definition in your cheekbone and sculpt your face.  There are a lot of filler options and it largely depends on the location to volumize and the look you desire to achieve.  Generally for cheek structure, I like Juvederm Voluma or Radiesse.  Both are nice options for sculpting cheek architecture.  An in-person consultation to assess your goals would be the most important next step.  I would reco...
Sudden eye bag appearance? What could be causing this, and what would be the best treatment to get
Sudden eye bag appearance
Apr 30, 2019
Eye bags are herniation of orbital fat into the eyelid compartment.  Although there is genetic predisposition to eye bags, a sudden appearance may be related to dehydration, poor sleep, eye inflammation (blepharitis), seasonal exacerbation of allergies or other factors. We definitely see worsening of eye bags due to allergies and if this is the first time you have noticed it, you might consider eye drops before going to bed to help flush pollen.
Different doctors, different amounts of fillers suggested? Why?
A matter of style
Apr 18, 2019
I tend to think many injectors in my area over-inject and I wonder if they are pushing product.  Under-injecting or over-injecting is the eye of the beholder and I would prefer to slightly underinject a patient because you can always add more.  Taking filler away is not as simple or accurate as we wish it were.  Overinjecting can also tension the skin to cause it to stretch, which ultimately will require more filler to maintain status quo over time.  When I used to work in sout...
What's the best back acne treatment?
Back Acne
Jan 17, 2019
Back acne can be difficult to treat so I would recommend seeing a Dermatologist in your area who will determine a good treatment plan. You should be able to improve your acne using topical medications that help to exfoliate the dead skin layer to help prevent break outs.
I am not exactly sure what 'local anesthesia' is; I had a biopsy done above my upper lip.
Numbing
Dec 3, 2018
Hello,Thank you for your question! In our office we use lidocaine to numb the area we are scheduled to work on. This is done by injecting the numbing via a needle, much like what they did for your biopsy most likely. You will not need to be fully sedated like you would if you were having a surgical procedure done in an operating center.  Some offices have medication that can help calm you down for your procedure, but you have to have a driver present with you to be able to take those me...
Is tingling and burning normal 3 days after a skin graft on the nose from Mohs basal cell carcinom
Burning and Tingling
Dec 3, 2018
Hello,Thank you for your question! Some burning and tingling is to be expected following Mohs surgery. Sometimes it can be the result of irritation due to antibiotic ointment or adhesive from the bandage. If the burning and tingling is associated with severe pain, redness, or swelling, it could be a sign of infection and you would want to reach out to your surgeon and schedule a wound check just to be safe.
Is it safe to take an hour-long bumpy taxi ride to the plastic surgeon right after Mohs on my fore
Bumpy Ride
Dec 3, 2018
Hello!Thank you for your question. More than likely, your Mohs surgeon will apply a large pressure dressing to your surgical site that should be sufficient to minimize bleeding/bruising while you are making your way to the plastic surgeon for repair. The forehead is an area that can result in bruising that can settle under your eyes, but the risk shouldn't be any higher due to riding in a car.
How should I treat my face and what type of acne do I have?
acne treatment options
Oct 15, 2018
From the photo, it looks like you have a combination of inflammatory and comedonal acne. This is the majority of most acne patients. Acne treatment typically requires a multifaceted treatment approach. To treat the inflammation, there are many options including oral antibiotics, accutane and photodynamic therapy. If your acne is more hormonal in nature, options are aldactone and/or less favored oral contraceptives. To treat the texture of the skin (comedones), topical retinoids are a must....
Why didn't my Botox work at all? I have had it done for 2 years.
botox for crows feet
Oct 15, 2018
The typical unit range for crows feet for a good cosmetic result is around 12-15 units per eye. An extra "unit" would not likely make a difference. I would disscuss possibly increasing the amount of botox used and injection sites around your eyes with your injector.
Is it normal to have scratch spots in face while doing glycolic acid 12% cream treatment?
Glycolic acid
Oct 12, 2018
Glycolic acid is an exfoliating ingredient in many facial products. This ingredient can definitely make your skin more sensitive. From what I can see in the pictures, it almost looks like fingernail size marks. Are you picking at your acne at all? Having any waxing done or hair removal of any kind? I have seen similar looking marks like this when people try to us a hair removal tools or waxing. When you are using exfoliating ingredients like this you have to be extra careful with other...
What could these small bumps on my face be?
Comedonal acne
Oct 12, 2018
You have comedonal acne which is caused by your dead skin cells sticking and blocking a hair follicle. The hair follicle becomes completely blocked causing the bump. The most important treatment for this type of acne is using a product that promotes skin turnover. Since you have been on Retin A in the past I would try it again and recommend following up with your Dermatologist.
How long should I wait to have a squamous tumor on my leg removed?
Squamous Cell
Oct 12, 2018
Hello,Without seeing a pathology report or knowing what kind of squamous cell carcinoma you have it is hard to specifically say, but in general it isn't a good idea to leave a squamous cell untreated. There are varying degrees of severity within squamous cell carcinomas and the moderately and poorly differentiated versions can be very dangerous and need prompt treatment. I would advise you to talk with the provider who did your biopsy and have them set you up with a Mohs surgeon or...
Swelling moving and Increasing after Mohs, is this normal?
Swelling
Oct 12, 2018
Hello,It is normal for swelling from a Mohs procedure on the forehead to settle over the next few days around the eyes. As you are up and around, gravity will pull any fluid/swelling into that area. Continue with the ice and it should get better over the next few days. If the swelling is associated with extreme pain, redness, fevers or chills, you would want to inform your surgeon to make sure there is not an infection. But swelling and some pain is normal. I would advise you to keep an eye ...
What non surgical fat removal/contouring method would you recommend for me?
Nonsurgical Fat Removal
Jul 27, 2018
By the photos above, you are an excellent candidate for Coolsculpting. In my opinion, it is the most effective nonsurgical fat removal treatment with minimal downtime. With as little as two treatments, there is 40% fat reduction in the treated area. Many of the other nonsurgical fat removal methods are less expensive, but in the long run require more treatments and are less effective. Liposuction has the potential for minimal scarring and surgical down time. Hope this information helps.
