Bony exostosis
Nov 11, 2018
Hi there. These look bony exostoses which can be removed via a hairline incision and then removed surgically using an osteotome. I cannot tell from the photograph if you have more than 2, or if there are other bony deformities. Speak to a plastic surgeon in your area, who will certainly be able to guide with this. Best of luck!
My right eye is higher than my left. What can I do?
In short – no
Nov 11, 2018
Hi there – normal asymmetries like yours are so common that they are generally the rule rather than the exception. The only surgery that exists is an orbital box osteotomy which is performed by plastic surgeons that specialise in craniofacial surgery – this is usually reserved for kids or adolescents with severe craniofacial deformity or syndromes which necessitates this huge procedure. In your case the risks would outweigh the benefits.
Good question though!
How easy is it to put the skin back in after mild upper eyelid surgery? Will the eye look
Be patient and consult your surgeon
Nov 11, 2018
Hi thanks for the question. It is not easy to put skin back – firstly that skin is discarded during surgery so replacing it will mean a skin graft from somewhere else which may mean that the skin does not match the colour and quality of the upper eyelid skin. This would be a drastic maneouvre usually reserved as last resort for someone who may not be able to close their eyes due to too much skin removal. This does not sound like your situation. Scars will settle so be patient, and…
Is the plasma pen treatment safe and effective for hooded eyelids?
Surgical versus non surgical upper blepharoplasty
Nov 11, 2018
Hi thanks for your question. The plasma pen is certainly a great tool for patients who wish to avoid surgery however I feel it is only good for mild cases of upper eyelid skin excess. Those with moderate to severe skin excess require skin excision – overall upper blepharoplasty is an operation with high satisfaction rates, low complications, hidden scars and really great value for money. Of course it is hard to comment without seeing photographs but I would recommend you speak with a…
Is it normal for scar tissue to have that grainy/inconsistent tiny lump feeling?
Normal Residual Gland / Likely Scar from surgery
Nov 11, 2018
Hi thanks for your question. The key to gynaecomastia surgery is to remove the tissue that makes the chest look female – this is the fat over the chest (most of it is removed via liposuction), and the glandular tissue behind the nipple (often removed via a scar around the nipple). Presumably this is what you have had done. As a PS I take care to leave a disc of glandular tissue behind the nipple around 1cm thick so that the nipple does not invert. This glandular tissue is often…
After filler injection in the nose can the filler migrate and block an artery weeks/months
Can filler block arteries weeks or months later
Oct 17, 2018
Hi there – filler when injected can enter blood vessels through the use of sharp needles or cannulae. If injected under high pressure and in large volumes it can block blood vessels and enter crticial vessels that can cause skin loss or blindness. Experienced injectors therefore inject slowly, constantly move their needles, and inject with blunt cannulae in higher risk sites. If a complication was to occur it would occur immediately, and there is no way for filler once placed outside the…
How can I best improve the appearance of my scar? I’ve already had a surgery to do so and
Revision
Oct 17, 2018
Hi there – I would suggest speaking with a qualified plastic surgeon in your area. Even though you had a scar revision, I would think another revision in expert hands may be able to achieve a better result. You have a stretched scar but also marks on either side of the scar associated with skin sutures being left for 2 weeks or longer. If you did embark on this you would need to do all the scar management things (massage, silicone and possibly steroid injections) aggressively in the…
