Can a surgeon please explain the facility fee to me?
Facility Fee
Nov 17, 2023
Surgical Facilities are very expensive to build and to staff. As such, there is a separate fee to use them. Some facilities may be owned by the surgeon, and some are not, but either way there needs to be a fee to cover the cost of using the surgical facility.

My biggest complaint: sagging jowls and marionette lines. Should I get HALO or BBL?
BBL or Halo
Sep 22, 2023
A BBL will target the abnormal reds and browns of the skin and help preserve the overall quality of the skin. A Halo targets the collagen in the dermis and helps build more new collagen. This causes an improvement in the texture of the skin and some skin "tightening". However, I doubt a Halo will improve your jowls or marionettes much. I would recommend you consider some filler or for even more improvement, a minilift.

Halo Laser and Broadband Light Laser - are these lasers safe for Asian skin?
Halo and BBL are safe
Aug 14, 2023
Both Halo and BBL, when performed by experienced providers, are safe for Asian skin. Depending on the severity of your skin issues, the improvement can be quite dramatic. Patients that have less dramatic problems will have less dramatic results, but both promote healthier younger looking skin.

Can a lower eye skin pinch be revised and how soon after a procedure?
Be patient
Jan 16, 2023
I would recommend that you give this time. Lower eyelids can take at least 2 months, and sometimes 6 months or even longer to completely normalize. The mild swelling in the tissue makes the skin wrinkle more than it would when the swelling is gone. Also, your incisions look like they are exactly where they should be and once they completely heal, they will not be very noticable.

Is laser the neck answer? Halo for crepey skin and vertical wrinkles?
Halo
Dec 5, 2022
Halo would be a great laser to try. It is safe to use off the face and can improve overall texture and fine lines.

What to do for under eye laxity?
Lower eye laxity
Sep 29, 2022
The best way to treat lower eyelid laxity is to simply remove the excess skin. If someone has a very small amount of excess skin, a laser can tighten it and make it look quite good. When someone has enough excess skin that they really need a pinch to remove the excess, then a laser really can't do much, you need to remove the skin. This is typically done in the office using local anesthetic. The scar us a few millimeters below the lash line and heals incredibly well. The sutures are removed...
62 years old - What happens if I need to urinate during my facelift?
Facelift and urgency
Jul 14, 2022
If your surgeon is using local anesthetic and just oral sedation, you will be awake enough to determine when you need to urinate, and then the surgeon will just find a time when it will be convenient to take a break. You can get up and go urinate, then come back and complete the procedure. I have this happen frequently in my own practice.

What is the best treatment for sun spots and unwanted freckles?
Best treatment for "spots"
Jul 7, 2022
The BBL from Sciton is, in my opinion, the best treatment for "spots" that there is. It's a form of Intense Pulsed Light but delivers the light energy in a much more effective manner which gets results with fewer treatments, saving a ton of money. Getting at least two of these treatments a year has also been shown to slow the appearance of aging. See someone with a lot of experience, it matters.

I recently had fully ablative CO2 and was wondering how long I have to wait to get a facelift?
Facelift after CO2
Jun 18, 2022
You can get a facelift once the skin is fully healed after the CO2 laser. That usually happens about two weeks after the treatment. The problem with getting the laser prior to the facelift is that the facelift will lift the jowl and pull up the neck skin (skin that was not lasered) above the jawline. This could expose a demarcation between the skin that was lasered and the skin that was not lasered. If this happens then the skin that was not lasered may need to be treated with the CO2 laser...
What specific exercises are recommended to maintain Emsculpt results?
EmSculpt maintenance
Jun 16, 2022
Whether it's EmSculpt or CoolTone, the improved tone that develops after treatment will slowly go away. The treatments cause hypercontraction of the abdominal muscles which is something regular exercise just can't do. Intense abdominal exercises can help the results last longer, but regular treatments with either EmSculpt or Cooltone, once every 3-4 months is the best way to maintain your results.

What is best for deep accordion wrinkles? Mini Facelift?
Minilift
May 31, 2022
Minilifts can be extremely powerful forms of lower facial lifting. It has to do with the actual technique the surgeon uses. I personally do a deep plane minilift. Deep planes are extremely powerful ways to give patients a natural but very rejuvenated appearance. We call it a minilift simply because its performed in the office setting. You look like a great candidate.

Would Profound laser or Renuvion help grooves in neck after neck lift?
Neck problems
May 10, 2022
I would recommend that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon. This is going to need a revision, and if your surgeon feels they are capable of doing the revision, this should be at no cost to you. I don't think any non-surgical modality is going to improve this much. Your platysma muscles need to be treated again surgically to improve this.

Suggestions on lower eyelid surgery revision?
Revision lower bleph?
Apr 20, 2022
You are WAY too early to consider a revision surgery. What you see could easily be persistent edema / swelling. I would not consider a revision until you are at least 6 months out.

Should I get a laser peel before my facelift surgery?
Laser before facelift
Apr 14, 2022
It depends on the laser treatment that you are going to get. If it's a full field laser like an erbium or a CO2 then you want to wait until after the facelift to get that. The good news is that you don't look like you need an aggressive laser like those. A Halo laser, which is a hybrid fractionated laser, can improve the skin in a wonderful way without the downtime and hassles of the more aggressive lasers, and you can have a Halo prior to a facelift if you desire.

Is the Erbium laser really 'too weak' to help with wrinkles?
Erbium laser
Mar 11, 2022
That is a very strange answer your Dermatologist gave you because the Erbium laser is one of the most powerful lasers used in aesthetics. The Erbium laser is THE most efficient laser available in that almost ALL of the energy that hits the skin is immediately absorbed and used to vaporize the skin. And the fact that he mentioned heat into the skin is also interesting because we DON'T want heat in the skin. We want vaporization to a depth that will cause a tremendous amount of new dermal...
