Does it matter which procedure I get first?
Which procedure first
Mar 4, 2016
If you desire both procedures it does not sense to have 2 anesthesias, 2 operations, 2 recovery periods, and pay thousands more when it can be performed safely and comfortably in one operation. I would wait until the finances work for you to do it all at once, and not do it twice. Check out our mommy makeovers at Austin-Weston in Reston. We will be glad to see you for a consultation and try to make the financing work for you. Choosing a plastic surgeon because one is cheap is unwise. No one...
Order of procedures?
Order of procedures
Mar 4, 2016
We almost always perform these these procedures in one operation, even if it takes two of the surgeons here at the Austin-Weston Center operating simultaneously. This allows for using one anesthesia, one operation, and one recovery period instead of two. It is also significantly less expensive. Having said that, the most important factor to consider is your safety. If your surgeon does not feel that it can be performed safely in one procedure, you should listen to his/her advice. He will...
1 Month Post Op and my Middle Incision Still Hasnt Heal. I'm Worried?
Delayed healing tummy tuck
Oct 16, 2013
It is not unusual to have an area of delayed healing such as yours after a tummy tuck. From the photo it looks as though it will end up as a nice result. Follow up with your plastic surgeon and continue the wound care that he has prescribed.
When Will the Swelling Subside?
Swelling post op
Oct 16, 2013
Post operative swelling tends to last for weeks. This is why in our practice we don't take post op photos for at least 3 months. Be patient, and listen to you plastic surgeon regarding what to expect.
What Procedures Would You Suggest?
What procedures do you suggest?
Oct 9, 2013
Suggesting what procedures would benefit you most is unwise without an examination and a conversation with you about what exactly you want to accomplish, what your expectations are, what you are willing to go through, and the risks, limitations and tradeoffs of all your options. As an example, a classic breast lift might give you the best shaped breast - but are you willing to have the scars necessary, and take the small risk of having bad scars? You are the senior partner in the partnership...
Why Was I Turned Down for a Tummy Tuck?
Refused Tummy Tuck
May 30, 2013
I agree with the other answers. Ask your plastic surgeon specifically why he turned you down. But there is your ideal weight, and the weight you can (or are willing to) achieve. I generally don't require my patients to lose weight prior to surgery unless I feel the operation will be unsafe at the heavier weight. 90% of people who diet gain it back. If you lose weight, then have surgery and gain it back, you will ruin your result. And I have never seen a patient ruin a result by...
Flying to 3 Different Countries for Different Procedures?
Surgeon Shopping
May 21, 2013
I always ask myself " if this were my wife or sister, would I do this"? The answer is of course not. You don't have to research the world and travel to multiple countries to find great plastic surgeons. Stay close to home for long term follow-up even if you choose multiple surgeons. Make certain you recover adequately from one surgery before having another. There are too many risks in what you are planning.
Could I Avoid a Lift with a Larger Implant?
Breast implant vs lift
Mar 7, 2013
Breast imlplants do not lift breasts, they increase the volume of breasts. Breast lifts lift breasts. If you are happy with the volume of your breasts in a bra, you should not get implants. Implants make it more difficult to get a perky shape because the surgeon has to lift the breast tissue over the implant. My vote would be for a lift and no implant. Your shape will be better. If you insist on implants, go small. But I think your shape will be worse, not better.
Is This a Realistic Idea?
Multiple procedures
Dec 19, 2012
All these procedures are doable, but many factors weigh in the decision of how many to perform at once. How long it takes, how old are you and how healthy. Only a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon will help with your decision. Listen to his/her advice and be safe.
After I Had my MM, One Pain Pump Line Seems to Be Stuck. Can the Line Be Left Inside Me?
Pain pump
Oct 1, 2012
I would follow the advice of your plastic surgeon who placed the pain pump. He knows where and how it was placed and how to remove it. It will not dissolve like a suture. Discuss the options again with him and choose based on that conversation.
Tummy Tuck, Breast Lift & Breast Implants Help?
Tummy Tuck,Breast Lift and Implants
Sep 27, 2012
I agree with the other plastic surgeons' advice except that I beleive that breast implants work against you in this case and will probably make your shape worse rather than better. You already have D cup size breasts with a poor shape and need a classic breast lift to reshape them. An implant will not help lift your breasts or make them perkier but makes it more difficult for your plastic surgeon to lift your breast tissue over the mound created by the implant. It will make...
Can a Tummy Tuck, Breast Aug, and Hyst All Be Done at Once?
Combining surgeries
Sep 25, 2012
You need to consult with your gynecologist and your board certified plastic surgeon and follow their advice. Every patient is different and the advice will vary from patient to patient. The most important thing is safety and the risk of significant complications. As a surgeon, I always ask myself whether I would perform a particular surgery on my wife or sister. In this case I personally would not. There is not enough to gain from doing all these procedures at once, and too much to...
Surgery Including 2 Hernia Repairs, Abdominal Wall Repair, BL, BA, Lipo for Hips? Separately, Same Ti
Multiple surgeries at once
Sep 13, 2012
I agree with Dr. Abramson. Surgery limited to 6 hours is safe. Talk to your board certified plastic surgeon to get advice on what can be done at one surgery.
15 Days Post Op Breast Lift/ Tummy Tuck. Uneven Breasts?
Breast Lift, Tummy Tuck 15 Days Post OP
Aug 28, 2012
You should see your plastic surgeon and ask him/her your questions and express your concerns.Getting advice from a plastic surgeon over the internet without the ability to have your records, preop photos, and being able to examine you is not wise. If after seeing your plastic surgeon who performed your surgery you are still concerned, get a second opinion from a well respected board certified plastic surgeon ( certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery). In general, you cannot judge...
I Am Considering a 6 Procedure Marathon Surgery in Columbia. Am I Risking Too Much?
Marathon Surgery in Columbia
Jul 27, 2012
My opinion is that under NO circumstances would I do this. This is too much surgery at one time, in a foreign country, with a surgeon you don't know, a clinic or hospital you don't know. You are risking your life, not just your cosmetic result. Wait until the finances work for you. Then find a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery close to your home. Trust his/her advice on how much can be done SAFELY at one time. NEVER go out of the country for cosmetic surgery....
