Most women are left with a stretched muscle, extra skin and stretch marks after childbirth. Even if you diet and exercise and get back to a perfect weight, the skin will only contract to a certain extent. This photo is a good example of a typical appearance after childbirth. Unfortunately, you will not get much more improvement without a tummy tuck. You should expect a very good result with a tummy tuck. I am 10 weeks PO tummy tuck. Can I still develop a seroma?

If drains are used then seroma are usually seen within a week after removal. As time passes after surgery a seroma becomes less and less likely. It’s unusual to develop a seroma 10 weeks after surgery unless you had drains that were removed at 8 or 9 weeks. If you are unsure then ask your surgeon.

Yes we combine these procedures often and patients do well. Most patients prefer to have one recovery period. You can walk as much as you’d like to and can lie on either side during the first week and during the second week you can lie on your stomach. Your safety comes first so we would make sure that you don’t have any risk factors. Make sure your surgeon is experienced and board certified by the American Board of Pladtic Surgery.

The amount of stretch and droopiness that you have depends mostly on the elasticity of your skin and the amount of weight in your breasts. For most patients wearing a bra is optional. A vertical lift will have a lollipop shaped scar and the standard lift will leave the anchor shaped scar. The difference is the incision in the infra mammary fold.I recommend sub pectoral placement of a silicone implant for most patients. Especially if the tissue is thin.
