Bad reaction with Juvederm, is it true Revanesse has less swelling?
Filler Swelling
Dec 9, 2019
Dec 9, 2019
Thank you for your question.Fillers can retain water and induce swelling to different degrees and this really varies on the location where they were injected. It’s sometimes a bit of trial and error to find a product that works for you and your body. Some of the Juvederm products are highly crosslinked which can cause some fluid retention. Revanesse, Belotero, and Restylane are good alternatives depending on the area you are hoping to correct. You may want to consider visiting your prev…
Hyalaronic acid filler not gone after two years in lips? Is it possible that this is my own colla
Lip Filler
Dec 9, 2019
Dec 9, 2019
Thanks so much for your question and your helpful photo. The duration a filler lasts is a combination of the product and the patient – some patients will dissolve their filler very fast while others can have a persisting effect. Some products are rapidly dissolved and others persist. We try to find a nice balance of longevity of effect and preventing complications (i.e. nodularity). Your question suggests that it has been 2 years since your last treatment. If that is the case, then it m…
Is this a sign of lip cancer or an infection?
Lower lip lesion
Dec 9, 2019
Dec 9, 2019
Thank you for your question and your helpful photo. The area on your lower lip looks like something termed “Actinic Chelitis”. It is not possible to know for sure without examining you and this is by no means a formal diagnosis. I’d encourage you to see a Facial Plastic Surgeon, Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon or Dermatologist for a thorough history of the lesion, examination, and possibly a biopsy. Hope this helps.
Questionable TMJ (prescription) pain treatment?
Botox for TMJ Treatment/Masseter Hypertrophy
Dec 9, 2019
Dec 9, 2019
Thank you for your question. While you may be upset that your doctor changed their technique slightly, its for your betterment as they may have found a technique that works better in their hands. I think their goal was altruistic and an effort to give you the best possible treatment. Frankly, a treating specialist who confesses that they are always learning and trying new things to give you a better result is a valuable blessing. That being said, I’ve had numerous successful patients with…
Will fat grafting help to lift this scar on my forehead?
Depressed Forehead Scar
Dec 9, 2019
Dec 9, 2019
Thank you for your question and helpful photo.
There are a variety of options available to improve the appearance of a scar. This is of course predicated on how long you’ve had the scar, how you scar in general, your overall health, and an in-person consultation. A simple option could be to try intradermal saline injections. This can sometimes “lift” a tethered scar on the forehead. In my personal opinion microfat transfer into a scar is not an ideal treatment as this can create lum…

Is dermal filler in the chin okay after liposuction?
Chin Augmentation
Jan 8, 2019
Jan 8, 2019
Thank you for your question and helpful photo. Chin augmentation using filler is a relatively quick, easy, and painless procedure that you appear to be a good candidate for. My suggestion would be to wait for at least 4-6 weeks following liposuction as some residual swelling can persist which can sometimes make it difficult to evaluate how much of an augmentation is desirable. You don’t want to be augmented, have the swelling go down, and then look “over done”. I tend to be fairly…
What is the importance of protein after blepharoplasty recovery?
Post operative nutrition
Dec 10, 2018
Dec 10, 2018
Thank you for your question.Post-operative nutrition is important for wound-healing in general. Protein specifically is less important than maintaining a balanced diet that you can tolerate. Given your background diagnosis of UC, the last thing you would want is to introduce something new that would cause you a flare up as that would really set you back from a general health and nutrition perspective. I would recommend doing the best you can, eating healthy, and maintaining your usual die…
