Medrol Dose Pack
Aug 18, 2023
As a standard we use a medrol dose pack after our deep plane facelifts. Within our practice I find that it greatly reduces swelling and helps the healing process. My website describes the deep plane approach in more detail.
45 years old. Facelift or fillers?
Facelift
Oct 19, 2020
Great question and thank you for uploading photos. Let me start by saying that you have aged well. Based on your comment that you don't like your jowls I would say you could go either way. Facelift or fillers to "mask" the jowls. One thing that fillers will do if you keep putting them in that area is they can widen and square off the jawline. Again they aren't correcting the problem, they are just masking it. Hope this helps.
Why do some plastic surgeons recommend me a facelift?
Facelift
Oct 19, 2020
Let me start off by saying that no one really "needs" a facelift. It is only a matter of preference. If nothing bothers you then I would not recommend surgery. One of the things that is very important with any cosmetic procedure is managing patient expectations. I would tell you to meet with a few surgeons in person to talk about options. Hope this helps.
Am I eligible for a facelift?
Facelift
Oct 19, 2020
Thanks for your question. Without a photo it is hard to give advice. I see you mention that you are 22. I would think non-invasive techniques may be an option for you. There are multiple devices that will lift and tighten skin, and they work very well in younger patients. Hope this helps.
Do I need a lower, mid or full facelift for my downturned mouth and jowls?
Facelift
Oct 19, 2020
Thank you for your photos. I would recommend a "lower facelift". This will address the cheeks, jowls/jawline and neck. Using terms like full, mid and lower are confusing because they mean different things to different people. I would recommend an in person consultation with a few board certified doctors to get a few perspectives. Hope this helps.
Is a drainless facelift more dangerous?
Drains post surgery
Oct 19, 2020
Great question. I think it is surgeon preference. I used drains for years, then I stopped and did not notice any difference with healing. Most surgeons will have their own techniques/preferences pre, intra, and post surgery and the use of drains is just one of them. Hope this helps.
Facelift or injectables?
Options
Oct 19, 2020
Thank you for your question and your photos. I can see where you would want to have a more defined jawline. Since you are younger (33), have you tried any non-invasive procedures? Something that will help restore your own collagen? This could be a great option for you since you do have age on your side.
Time between procedures?
Time between surgery
Oct 19, 2020
I think the liposuction first is a good idea. As long as you do well with the liposuction, and depending on your age and how fast you recover I would say 10 days- 2 weeks would be a good timeframe. Hope this helps.
What procedures would you recommend for my face?
Options
Oct 19, 2020
Thank you for your photos and your question. I don't think you are too "early". You could look into a S-Lift which is a short scar facelift meant to address the cheeks and jawline and not necessarily the lower neck or neck bands. You could also try some fillers as well to smooth out some areas on your face, but again- you mentioned your concerns are loose skin and sagging cheeks. The only way to correct sagging skin is surgery. Hope this helps.
What is the average length of time a surgeon should honor a facelift price quote? Are Instagr
Surgery Costs
Oct 19, 2020
Most of the time your quote should have a timeframe on it. In addition to increased costs all over, as you age there is simply "more work to be done". I honor quotes and will typically extend my quoted fee if there was a reason someone couldn't follow up with surgery. Hope this helps.
Is jawline filler enough? Or is it lift time?
Facelift vs Filler
Oct 19, 2020
Great question- this is something I discuss almost daily with my patients. Fillers are great products when you have lost volume (fat) in your face and you are looking to fill. By your photos it looks like you are trying to correct a problem caused by gravity (sagging skin). The most effective way to solve this problem is to lift and tighten (surgery). If you wanted more definition after you had a lift you could supplement with filler. Hope this helps.
What treatment options would I benefit from to achieve more awake refreshed eyes?
Eyelid Surgery
Aug 10, 2020
Thank you for your question and your photos. By looking at your photos I would recommend lower eyelid surgery. Remove the bags. I would also ask for younger photos of you to see how you have aged. Possibly then I would remove some skin from the top. Ptosis can be determined by an office visit where they place drops in your eyes. Hope this helps.
What skin problems can be addressed with an lPL photofacial?
IPL
Aug 10, 2020
Great question-- Sometimes these lasers and procedures can be so confusing. Firstly- there are a ton of different lasers on the market and no two (IPL's) are the same. The IPL laser in our office is used to treat brown spots and red veins/vessels. It feels like a hot rubber band snapping. When you leave you are red and swollen, sometimes bruised if you have a lot of red vessels. Over a few days dark brown spots will appear and flake off. I have never recommended the IPL for wrinkles or pores...
Is it possible to remove only excess skin under my neck? Is this the best way to go?
Excess Neck Skin
Aug 10, 2020
Thank you for your question and photos. I would recommend a neck lift which will also address the bands in your neck. I don't think a direct excision of skin would make you happy in the end. A surgeon can lift your skin with their hands and show you the difference between a neck lift and a lower facelift. Hope this helps.
How do you determine which method (nonsurgical or surgial) is best for my jawline/neck/double
Submentum Fullness
Aug 10, 2020
Thank you for your question and photos. You are young with what appears to be minimal skin laxity. If you want to have one procedure and be happy I would do lipo. I think Kybella works great but it could take a series of injections over multiple visits and the cost sometimes isn't less then lipo.
