What is a “lip flip” filler injection?
Lip flip
Sep 11, 2021
A lip flip refers to an injection of Botox or other toxin at the upper lip border to try to evert the lip out and give the illusion of a fuller lip. Filler is an injection of hyaluronic acid directly into the lip to increase volume. The lip flip will alter your ability to drink from a cup or straw a little and some people do not like this, but it only lasts up to 4 months so if you don’t like it it won’t last that long. The lip flip is very subtle and in some people doesn’t really give a…
Unsure if Botox/fillers are sufficient or will I need to consult a surgeon?
Injectables vs Surgery
Sep 11, 2021
I think for what you are describing as your concerns a surgeon is what you need. Possibly rhinoplasty with chin implant. Fillers are an option for the chin projection but it will take a lot of filler and is not permanent. In regards to the nose asymmetry filler will not correct this issue as well as surgery and again is not permanent. In addition, you will need to find a skilled injector who can get you the result you are looking for. I would see a plastic surgeon for consultation.
Is it necessary to have microdermabrasion after CO2 fractional?
Post care CO2 laser
Jun 3, 2021
The short answer is no. For my fractionated CO2 laser patients I usually do greasy wound care for a week at least with vinegar soaks for 48 hours. At 2 weeks post laser the skin is usually fully healed and maybe slightly pink. At that point if everything is healed I recommend resuming the regular skin regimen. Some people may get some milia after this laser which is why I’m guessing your doctor suggests the microdermabrasion? Maybe ask them why you need this. All doctors have their own way…
I was wondering if PRP injections would help minimize the appearance of hollowness under my eyes? (Photo
Under eye hollowness
Jun 3, 2021
I have not seen PRP injections work well and there is almost nothing in the literature to support it does. Whatever improvement is seen after the injections are done is short lived. I usually address this with Restylane injections. Works well, results are instant and lasts up to a year.
I have a hypertrophic scars on my upper lip I would like them to be permanently gone with treatment? (Ph
lip scar treatment
Jun 3, 2021
I would probably try a steroid injection first to see if it will flatten out a little but you need to know it could also cause an indentation. You could also try a silicone sheet and wear it over the scar at night for a few months to see if it helps. I like ultrathin duoderm or dynaderm and you can buy these on Amazon. Lasering may or may not help. Microneedling may or may not help. This will be a tough scar to improve and your expectation should be that it will not go away completely but…
Can I take minoxidil with PRP treatment to get best result and how effective is PRP treatment?
Minoxidil and PRP
Jun 3, 2021
Yes, you can do them together. In fact I always advise my patient to do everything they are willing to do to save their hair for male/female pattern hair loss. The more you do the better. I like Viviscal Pro, topical minoxidil and PRP together. Females can take spironolactone as well. In regards to PRP effectiveness there is no perfect answer as we all react differently. I have seen some patients not respond at all and some with great results. You need to go in with realistic expectations…
What is the best (and safe) treatment/laser for uneven tone and texture in dark skin?
LaseMD safety
Jun 3, 2021
You are correct that LaseMD is a safer choice for your skin type over IPL. But I would still make sure you are not tan at all and prep your skin with hydroquinone prior to and in between laser treatments. LaseMD works only only on hyperpigmentation with very little effect on collagen itself so it will likely not make your skin feel smoother but can help with the hyperpigmentation. Also, make sure you are a skin care regimen that targets pigment and use hydroquinone on and off.
