After receiving a masters in public health from Harvard University, Dr. Desai earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, where he also completed an internship in general surgery. He completed five residencies in plastic and reconstructive surgery—at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami Children’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Tufts Medical Center—along with a highly coveted fellowship at the Beverly Hills Institute of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Desai is committed to international service and caring for the underprivileged. Though he initially intended to become a neurosurgeon, his experiences in China treating children born with congenital malformations, like cleft lips and cleft palates, led him to the field of plastic surgery. He has also treated children in Haiti and Thailand, and volunteered at a leprosy camp in India.
Dr. Desai is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His research has been published in medical journals like the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, and he has authored seven textbook chapters.
