Does a forehead lift smooth forehead skin, glabella or crow’s feet?
Forehead lifts are great treatments for these issues
Jul 31, 2019
Not only do endoscopic (and other types) forehead lifts help create a more open appearance to the eyes and brow area, this procedure also does a wonderful job of relaxing the crow’s feet and glabellar lines. In fact, the crow’s feet lift is one of the huge benefits to the endoscopic forehead lift, especially when the lateral/temporal pockets are lifted and treated in the specialized way that our technique offers. The endoscopic forehead lift really is a procedure that delivers what it…
Can I get rid of the big bump on both sides of my forehead?
Options for treatment
Jul 31, 2019
It is hard to tell from the photos, but it is possible that this represents forehead lipoma or a bony growth called an osteoma. The lipoma is softer moves with the scalp, whereas the osteoma is firm and fixed to the bone of the skull. These types of lesions can both be removed with much success. Best wishes for a good outcome if you decide to proceed with treatment.
I had a blowout fracture of the orbit 6 years ago, can something be done about the residual enophtalmos?
Risk versus benefit
Nov 2, 2014
If you have isolated enophthalmos (sunken eye) due to the fracture, this can often be corrected by adding volume to the orbit with an implant (Medpore, mesh, foil, bone graft, other). It is important to consider the vertical position of the eye as well. If the cosmetic disturbance is minor, one should also consider avoiding orbital surgery due to serious potential risks (double vision, numbness, and very rarely vision loss, just to name a few). With an experienced orbital and/or…
How To Resolve Under Eye Bags?
Not complicated
Jan 10, 2014
From the photos, you appear to have significant orbital fat “bags”. These can be removed and/or transposed and you should get a great result. There is no need to have a skin incision with this procedure as it can be accomplished from the inside of your lower eyelid. Smile lines and muscle are supposed to be there. If muscle and skin are iremoved under the eye in a young person like you, there is a higher chance of a complication in which the eyelid becomes lower.
Do facelift or eye lift patients sedated only with oral medication and local anesthetic EVER feel pain d
Sure! But hopefully not too bad.
Nov 16, 2013
If you are awake during a procedure, you will experience sensation. The injection of the local anesthesia is accompanied by a mild or moderate stinging and burning. This can be lessened by choice of anesthesia mixture and injection technique. After that, the area should be completely numb, but sometimes more anesthesia injection is needed. For a true drooping eyelid “eyelift” (ptosis repair) there is a pinching or pressure sensation as the eyelid lifting muscle is tightened. For upper eyelid…
I have major scleral show, I am having underbite surgery soon and my maxilla will be advanced?
Lifting the lower eyelids
Nov 8, 2013
Hi Thad1995It looks like you have lower eyelid retraction, or low position of the lower eyelids. This condition can be seen in thyroid disorders so you should have that checked if the reason for your retraction is not known. This condition can be corrected with lower eyelid surgery. Spacer grafts, or implants surgically placed inside the lids are a common an minimally invasive way to significantly help this problem. Mid-face advancement techniques can be performed in some cases.
Arnica Raise Blood Pressure?
Useless but likely harmless
Jul 3, 2013
If you are taking about 30C dilution of arnica to be taken by mouth, it cannot hurt or help you. This is diluted to 1 part Arnica to 1×10 to 60 power parts water (yes, 1 with 60 zeros). So no actual arnica can be found in an “Arnica” pill. It is just a sugar pill and placebo effect. Check out the research on Homeopathy and how it is supposed to work. Most scientists find it absurd. Enough people seem to believe in it though, that it is a multi billion dollar industry!
The Endotine Brow Lift, Will Tacks Protrude from Scalp Causing Severe Pain and Infection?
Endotines
Jul 3, 2013
Endotine (brand) fixation device should absorb in about 12 months. If they have not, or if you are having problems at the site of Endotine placement, they can and should be removed.

We generally do not have many problems with “Endotines”. We do not recommend the other “Ultratine” device.

How Long Does Endoscopic Brow Lift Results Last? I`m Talking About Young Patient?
Outstanding long term result from endobrow
Jul 3, 2013
Endoscopic forehead/brow lifting using modern techniques and by an experienced surgeon should give a result that is very long lasting. Proper fixation methods will provide a nice, natural looking brow. The expectation should be that the results are permanent but of course the aging process will continue.
Am I a Good Candidate for Lower Bag Removal? If So What Type? Same Time As Revision or Separate Surgerys
Lower Bag Removal, Upper eyelid revision and brow lift surgery may be your answer
Mar 19, 2013
Dear Steadyby,

Looking at your photos, it seems that there is asymmetry of the brow and forehead along with the eyelids. This can account for some of your concern. Certainly, the lower lid surgery can be performed at the same time as an upper lid revision or brow adjustment. A discreet incision along the lower lash line may be required, but would be very difficult to see once you have healed. Wishing you all the best, Evan Black, MD, Oculoplastic Surgeon, Southfield, MI

What Are the Pros and Cons of Latisse for Health Care Providers
Great treatment, but review risks with patient
Feb 18, 2012
Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution (Latisse) is a truly effective medication for induction of lash growth. I am always amazed at the results. The most minor risk is that is does not work for a small percentage of patients (risk of wasting their money). More serious risks include pigmentation, irritation or redness of the eyelid. The upper eyelid darkening can be permanent, but is usually minor. There is data in the ophthalmology literature that bimatoprost can darken the iris, especially in…
My Right Eye Is Constantly Dry After Eyelid Surgery, Why is This Happening?
Careful with Tobradex!
Feb 18, 2012
Hi

I doubt that eyelid surgery would cause true allergy, but it certainly can cause serious problems that might feel like allergies, including severe dry eye and "exposure keratitis". This is a condition that can result from the eye not closing all the way and/or from dry eye. The problem with long term Tobradex use is that this medication contains a steroid (dexamethasone) and can cause glaucoma and cataracts with extended use. It is a great short term medication.

It…

Could the Squeezing Ability of Meibomian Glands Get Directly Impacted by the Removal of Muscle & Fat Aft
Meibomian gland problems are not typical with blepharoplasty
Feb 11, 2012
I'll assume you already know something about eyelid anatomy because I have not had a single patient (in tens of thousands) ever specifically ask about the Meibomian glands! But it is a good question. The majority of the "pump function" of the eyelid muscles relates to the tear outflow system and eyelid closure. Thus, aggressive blepharoplasty with removal of too much orbicularis muscle can cause tearing, hanging out or down of the eyelid (ectropion) or problems with closing the…
Pulsating Feeling After Endo Brow Lift, Will it Go Away?
Strange Sensations
Feb 11, 2012
Nearly all of my endo brow lift patients enjoy the wonderful, refreshed and youthful look provided by this procedure. BUT It does come with a price (and we're not just talking money)! Small nerve ending are cut and other nerves and muscles are stretched by the procedure. This can result in unusual sensations of numbness, tingling, or even occasional true muscle spasms as Dr. Garcia mentions here as well. If you can feel the pulsations, but neither you nor anyone else sees any movement of…
Hollowness Under Brows 1 Year After Brow Pexy. Could This Have Been Prevented? How To Correct?
Filler or Fat
Feb 11, 2012
It looks like some fat may have been removed or the "brow pexy" technique caused some atrophy (shrinkage) of the sub brow fat. Your best options would be a long lasting filler or a fat injection. Neither of these is likely to be permanent, but should offer significant improvement with minimal downtime or hassle.
