Answer Snippet
Do I need a facelift to fix my wrinkly neck?
Your neck can be improved with a lower face/neck lift
Apr 6, 2019
Your overall skin quality looks very good and you have great bone structure. Lifting of the neck includes correction of the vertical bands caused by muscle separation as well as lifting the skin. Since, anatomically, the face and neck are connected, this lift will also improve any laxity along the jawline. Your left eye appearance suggests that you may have a condition know as levator ptosis. The is when the internal muscle of the upper orbit (not the eyelid) is weak. This cannot be…
Professional input regarding whether to have a rhinoplasty done at the same time as my face & neck l
I would suggest two separate procedures
Apr 6, 2019
You are very wise in your analysis of this question. Both a complete facelift and a rhinoplasty are long technically demanding operations. As a surgeon, I can definitely tell you that fatigue does occur during long procedures. In most cases, I advise my patients to separate the procedures. However, if either of the planned procedures is less extensive (for instance just removal of a nose “hump”) then they may safely be done together.
Is it ok to go to Mexico 3 months after a facelift + upper eye blepharoplasty if I wear sunblock and
You should be alright as long as you avoid excess sun exposure
Apr 6, 2019
It sounds like you have made all of the right choices regarding sun protection. Definitely sit in the shade when possible and always wear sunblock and a hat. Swimming should be OK as long as all of your incisions are completely healed. Your surgeon should be able to give you more specific details based on your ongoing recovery.
Input please, regarding IPL treatment a week before face and neck lift.
You should cancel your IPL treatment
Apr 6, 2019
Facelift surgery is quite complex and invasive. The overlying skin must not undergo any excessive trauma (IPL) ahead of time. My strong advice is to postpone your IPL until you are fully healed and your surgeon gives you medical clearance. It is also good to avoid excessive sun exposure pre-operatively for the same reasons.
What is the best treatment for lower face when “pockets” start on sides of mouth?
A small amount of filler would improve your lower cheeks
Apr 6, 2019
You look like a young slender woman in your photo so surgery might be too aggressive at this point in your life. It is possible to reduce the hollowing effect with a small amount of filler in the lower cheeks. You would need to be conservative so as not to get a “chipmunk” look. Another possibility is a limited jawline lift, but it is impossible to make this recommendation for certain without a physical examination.

We have not seen any sagging of skin after Cellfina treatment
Apr 6, 2019
So far our results with Cellfina have been very good to excellent. However, that is because I apply very stringent criteria for patient selection. I do not treat legs with sagging skin and I do not treat wrinkled skin in the front of the thighs. It might be that Cellfina could make those situations worse – we do not have long term clinical studies that have looked at this. The wisest choice is to only have discreet dimples in the buttocks and upper posterior thighs treated. These results…
Can you have Cellfina performed on the WHOLE front of thighs and inner thighs?
Cellfina is not a good choice for the front of thighs
Apr 6, 2019
Most of the time, the wrinkling in the front of the thighs is due to skin laxity. This is very different from the discreet dimpling seen in the buttocks and the back of thighs. Cellfina will not improve the wrinkling and irregular contours of the from of thighs when it is caused by loosening of the skin.
If I get more than one Cellfina treatment, will my cellulite keep on improving?
Our early results show that further improvement can be achieved
Apr 6, 2019
Since Cellfina has only been widely available for a short time, most clinicians do not have enough data to fully answer this question. In my practice, I have performed secondary procedures occasionally. I always wait at least one year after the initial treatment and focus only on areas of discreet dimpling that have the best chance of success. And, yes, we have gotten further improvement with repeated treatments.
If dimple cellulite is caused by tight bands pulling the skin in, what happens to the fibrous band a
Long term clinical studies have not shown any adverse effects from cutting cellulite bands
Apr 6, 2019
Your question regarding cutting of cellulite bands is quite insightful. Since this is a new technology, we only have clinical studies that are under 10 years long. So far there does not seem to be a problem with cutting these tissue bands. Regarding the second part of your question, it sounds like you may be referring to laxity of the skin. Unfortunately, there is currently no non-surgical means of correcting this problem.
I’m not a great candidate for lipo because the skin on my legs is too loose. Would Cellfina be an op
Cellfina does not help to tighten skin
Apr 6, 2019
Unfortunately, there is no method currently available for tightening up the skin of the legs other than a thigh lift operation. Cellfina is a wonderful new technology that can produce great improvement – but only for true cellulite (dimples).
How long is the recovery from upper eye lid surgery?
Wait until after your wedding for surgery.
Jan 23, 2019
Planning for your wedding undoubtedly includes several other activities ahead of time, so you actually have less time than you think for recovery. I would never perform a blepharoplasty this close to such an important event. Even a slight delay in healing or a small complication can make it a disaster.
Have droopy eyebrows and eyelids. Would an endoscopic brow lift help along with a blepharoplasty? (p
A conservative blepharoplasty is all you should have.
Jan 23, 2019
The first thing I wonder is if you have levator weakness. It is impossible to tell from your photograph. This can be evaluated by an ophthalmologist and might explain why you have always had to “lift” your eyelids to apply make-up. If you have this condition, then a surgical repair might be indicated. If not, then only a careful conservative blepharoplasty should be done at your age.
Do I need a full or mini tummy tuck?
Only a full abdominoplasty can correct your contour.
Jan 23, 2019
You do not seem to have much skin sagging but clearly your muscular support has stretched and become loose from pregnancy. Only a full repair of the muscle will change your contour. Also, because you do not seem to be very lax, it may be necessary to have a short midline “T” scar coming off the transverse abdominoplasty scar.
Stomach liposuction, CoolSculpting or a tummy tuck? I’m 47 yo and 5’2, weight 145 lbs.
It looks like you have muscle laxity and intra-abdominal fat.
Jan 23, 2019
From your photo, it seems that you do not have much “external” fat, so Cool Sculpting and liposuction will have only a minimal result. In order to flatted your abdomen, a significant amount of muscle tightening will be required and this will result in about a one month recovery.
65 yo female with controlled high blood pressure and controlled hypothyroidism. 153 lbs, 5’2″. Will
Recovery will take about one month.
Jan 23, 2019
The answer depends mostly upon whether or not the muscle will require significant tightening. The more muscle surgery is performed, the more post-operative pain and disability will ensue. The other factor that is often not fully disclosed to patients is that, regardless of whether or not the muscle repair is extensive, prolonged drainage is required. Drains must not be removed prematurely, or else the risk of developing a chronic serum is high. In many cases, drains must remain in place for…
