Could my nose be improved by fillers or surgery?
Fillers can be used on the nose; this is called a liquid rhinoplasty.
Mar 23, 2021
Fillers are a great option if you want to make only subtle changes to your nose's appearance. A skilled Dr. will address the humped area of your nose and tell you beforehand what if the filler can realistically achieve your desired results. They need to be redone yearly to maintain the new shape. Fillers can be done in the office with almost no downtime.
What is a functional rhinoplasty?
What is a functional rhinoplasty?
Mar 23, 2021
The difference is that septoplasty deals with the functioning part of the nose to improve your breathing, and your insurance should cover the cost of the surgery. A septoplasty will not change the outside shape of your nose; a rhinoplasty will, but rhinoplasty cannot be billed to insurance. There is a procedure called septorhinoplasty, which is used to reconstruct a nose from an injury. Not all Doctors offer both. Some do not do cosmetic work, and some are not credentialed to bill insurance....
Am I a candidate for rhinoplasty?
Tip Plasty
Mar 16, 2018
Hello, and thank you for your question. You are describing what we doctors refer as "rotation" of the nose. The tip of the nose can be rotated up, shortening the nose, or down, essentially lengthening the nose. There are a number of different techniques to accomplish this. A common technique to "elongate the tip part" of your nose is to modify the cartilage behind the tip (the end of your septum) to in essence "push your tip down." Changes to the shape of the tip cartilage are often...
If I want a nose hump removal, will the nose tip also have to be reshaped?
Dorsal hump
Feb 8, 2018
Cosmetic rhinoplasty is about balance. How does one part of the nose relate to the other? How does the nose relate to your other facial features such as your cheeks, chin, forehead, and the overall shape of your face? The answers to these questions determine what is right for you. If your dorsal hump is disproportionate to the other parts of your nose, then it alone can be addressed. Often however, when you change one part of the nose, others need to be addressed to keep things in balance. A...
Can I exercise 3 weeks after rhinoplasty?
Exercise after Rhinoplasty
Apr 6, 2017
Excellent question. The answers you get will vary depending on individual physician preference and the nature of your particular surgery. In general however, 3 weeks is a common expectation for full exercise following rhinoplasty. I tell my patients can walk around the house and do normal daily activities beginning on postoperative day one. After the first week, they can progress to mild exercise, then full exercise at 3 weeks. Risks of overdoing it include bleeding,...
Am I a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
Cosmetic Rhinoplasty question
Oct 16, 2012
You have correctly identifed the two aspects of your nose that might benefit from rhinoplasty surgery. The first, your nasal tip, does appear more prominent than the upper 2/3 of your nose on frontal view. The second issue is the relationship between the tip and the rest of your nose on profile. The tip projects away from your face much more than the rest of your nose. Altering this relationship by bringing your tip back, bringing your dorsum forward, or both,...
Is It Possible to Get a Nose Job by Using Your Own Bones Instead of Implants?
Asian nose surgery
Sep 19, 2012
Rib cartilage is an excellent material for asian nose surgery. It is easier to work with than bone, and provides the necessary support to withstand the forces placed on your nose throughout your lifetime. Bone is an option, but inferior to rib cartilage. I would avoid synthetic materials such as silicon, as you are young and they are more likely to cause problems down the road.

Nose Problem. Need to Straighten?
Addressing crooked noses
Sep 10, 2012
Rhinoplasty surgery can straighten your nose. Typically, noses are crooked because of problems with the nasal septum and/or the nasal bones. A physical exam would be required before any further suggestions can be made. Schedule a formal consultation with a facial plastic surgeon to determine the exact reason for your crooked nose.
Will my Nose Bump Go Away?
Regarding bumps on noses
Sep 2, 2012
The bump on your nose is not likely to go away, but you are 15 years old and your nose is likely to change a bit as you get older, so consider waiting at least one or two years before pursuing surgery. Keep in mind that male noses should be larger and more masculine than female noses. Simply removing the bump might not give you the result you were hoping for. It looks like your nose begins at the level of your pupil, which is lower than most male noses. Removing more...
Can Grafts Be Added in Revision Surgery to Give a Softer, More Fuller Appearance?
Grafts can smooth nasal contours
Aug 31, 2012
Alar rim grafts can smooth the transition between the nasal tip and nostrils. They soften the shadows on each side of your tip. They can also slightly improve the contour of alar rims that are notched or have a sharp angle. Septal cartilage works best. Keep in mind you have rather thin skin, and your tip cartilages are oriented more vertically than horizontally, which contribute to the bulky, notched appearance that you mention. Changing the position of the tip...
