Upper and lower blepharoplasty. Is this swelling and bruising normal?
Swelling
Aug 8, 2015
It can be totally normal for bruising and swelling to get worse a few days after surgery. If it's getting better that's a great sign. We always worry about post op infections but If that were the case the swelling would get worse and the pain would also be increased. If you have any questions check with your doc.
Can Ectropion heal on its own? This was my third surgery. First procedure was bleph, then cys
Probably not
Jul 26, 2015
Ectropions are either due to dehiscence of the lateral canthal tendon, scarring of the lid or removal of too much skin after blepharoplasty. All are repairable but require additional surgery. Give your lids a few months to heal and if no improvement consult an Oculoplastic surgeon.
My eyelid is always droopy after upper eyelid ptosis surgery. Any suggestions?
Ptosis
Jul 22, 2015
Adjusting lid height can be difficult. I would give it at least another month or two before deciding if further surgery is needed. Of course myesthenia Gravis is always in the back of our minds. See what happens to the lid height in a few months then reevaluate as needed
I have had three eyelid surgeries and my eyelid is still droopy. Is there any hope that it wi
Graves
Jul 17, 2015
Graves can be tough getting lid heights to match. The first thing I would do is get a work up for myesthenia Gravis. There is a 5 % association with thyroid disease. If negative I would get a consult with an oculoplasic surgeon for reconstruction to get the lids as symmetric as possible.
What is the cause of the fat pad under my eye, and how can it be treated?
? Thyroid
Jul 17, 2015
The fat pad is due to orbital fat coming forward. The assumetry is striking. The right eye looks abut bigger as well. Any history of thyroid disease ?? I would get a ct scan to evaluate the orbit. The fat can be removed through a trans conjunctival approach.
Can surgery be corrected on eyelids? Yes he was board certified but in my opinion way too conservat
Too early to tell
Jul 16, 2015
I would wait a few more months before rendering judgement. Still a lot of healing to go. Lower eyelids can be very difficult and being conservative with lower eyelids is a good thing. You can always go back and take more skin if needed but if you take too much skin you end up with an ectropion which is harder to fix. Give it more time
Can canthoplasty alone fix mild/moderate lower eye lid retraction?
Probably not
Jul 16, 2015
You will need vertical spacers along the whole length of the lower eyelid. Possibly a collagen graft at the inner eyelid surface can accomplish this but it depends on how much excess skin you have whether or not you will need a skin graft. Hard to tell for sure without examining you.
Do I need another surgery for my right eye after ptosis repair?
still early
Jul 15, 2015
Give it a good 2 more months before you have it reevaluated. slight asymmetry but its still very early.
Can you please help me with this question about my over-excised eyelid?
ptosis and lid retraction
Jul 14, 2015
Sounds like you have a levator dehiscense on the droopy lid and too much skin taken from the other lid. it is certainly fixable by doing a levator advancement on the droopy eyelid and possibly a skin graft on the retracted lid.. unlikely filler will help
Does anybody know what condition I suffer from? My right eye bulges more than my left and it is not
thyroid?
Jul 14, 2015
The most common reason for proptosis of one or both eyes in an adult is thyroid disease. Thyroid function tests should be done however about 30% of thyroid patients will have normal thyroid function tests. Thyroid antibodies should be drawn but most importantly a ct of the orbits needs to be done to evaluate the extraocular muscles which will be enlarged in thyroid disease as well as ruling out an orbital mass.
How can I fix my eyelids? They don't match.
ptosis repair
Jul 14, 2015
It appears that you have a levator dehiscense . That means the muscle that raises your eyelid has slipped off the upper lid abit. The only way to fix this is with a ptosis repair which is a levator advancement to get the lid to its normal height
Best option for retracted lower eyelids? Would a tarsal strip procedure work?
yes but in combination of anterior lamella elongation
Jul 13, 2015
Is looks like there is anterior lamella (skin) shortening causing eyelid retraction and an ectropion. the anterior lamella will need to be lengthened with a skin graft combined with either a lateral canthal tendon plication or a tarsal strip.
