Ultimately an in person visit would be required for definitive recommendations but you appear to be a great candidate with potential for great results. Good question. I know everyone seems to be afraid of drains, but I do believe drains can only help you recover faster. I call it bruising and swelling in a bottle. This post op fluid is removed via the drain outside of you and not stuck in you causing your skin to bruise and swell. It is typically removed the next day but sometimes one more additional day. Drains are your friends.

Hi and thanks for the question. Facelift incisions well placed and sutured nicely should not leave a "scar" if you are white or olive or a darker complexion. Also, surgical incisions on the face typically heal better than other parts of the body due to the better blood supply. I agree with the general consensus of the experts here. There may have been some mis understanding. Lasers before surgery is fine and lasers with a facelift surgery is fine as well as long as the surgeon knows what he is doing. So you are fine for a lower facelift having done lasers in the past. Buccal fat pad reduction can be performed under local anesthesia only, local anesthesia and oral sedation, and IV sedation. General anesthesia can be fine too but not needed in our practice. Healing is not dependent on the type of anesthesia.

Ideally, one would be at a stable weight before chin liposuction. However, if one is somewhat overweight and has been for many years and will continue to be then chin lipo can still be performed. If there is a lot of weight loss and you are young then one may not need the lipo. Consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon to see if you are a candidate.

Thanks for inquiring. In a facelift the underlying SMAS and PLATYSMA muscles are typically tightened. There are a variety of techniques that include tightening with sutures only and also lifting and excising the loose portion of the muscles. I like to lift and remove the excess SMAS muscle and suture tighten the Platysma muscle. Excess skin is then carefully trimmed. Thanks for asking. It looks like you have a nice result from your lift. However, a small portion of facelift patients will get an additional benefit of a secondary tuck. I do believe that the best neck lift result is when it is combined with a lower facelift. A neck lift by itself will have a less result in the neck when its not combined. The most definitive way to treat a jowl is with a lower facelift. Energy devices such as Profound or FaceTite are an option but on a fraction of the result. I have performed many lower facelifts on women in their 40's and it is becoming more common than ever in my practice.
