Answer Snippet
Best Approach for Tear Troughs?
tear trough fill
Oct 15, 2017
Hi and thanks for your great question.  I think that surgery can be done but you may have a suboptimal result as you have more hollow than fat (substrate) to reposition and fill the hollow. After surgery don't be surprised if you still need filler as a top off.  Filler only avoids the need for surgery and may do the trick for now. Get a good evaluation and don't be pushed into surgery - best...
Cold vs. Warm Compresses After Blepharoplasty?
cold amd warm compresses
Oct 15, 2017
Good question - no evidence based (factual) answers.  It is thought that cold compresses constrict (squeeze closed) blood vessels immediately after surgery to reduce swelling.  After a few days using warm compresses to do the opposite (open vessels to suck in fluid) may help.  It is best o do what your surgeon suggests based on their experience.  Certainly no harm comes from this.  Is it a benefit - maybe??
What Can I Do to Lessen Scars After Blepharoplasty?
eyelid scars after blepharoplasty
Oct 15, 2017
I am so sorry this occurred.  Sometimes scars can be revised and hidden better, and sometimes they can be tattooed the color of your skin.  Why not see an eyelid specialist to identify optons
Can Eye Bags and Fat Be Removed Without Blepharoplasty?
non-surgical blepharoplasty
Oct 15, 2017
Be careful with adds regarding this - there is no known efficacy.  However, if the only issue is fat - then transconjunctival blepharoplasty - from inside the lid can help - even with no elasticity.  Good luck
Browlift Vs Blepharoplasty - Which is Best for Sagging Eyelids?
browlift vs blepahroplasty
Oct 15, 2017
The only way to answer this is with an evaluation.  Both procedures when done by an experienced surgeon are safe and effective,  There tends to be a fear of browlift surgery which is mostly unfounded.  In face a straightforward brow lift often yields less bruising and swelling than traditional eyelid blepharoplasty.  Have an evaluation by a specialist and ask good questions
Blepharoplasty Complications
blepharoplasty complications
Oct 15, 2017
These vary from the upper to the lower lid.  The most common is more than expected bruising and swelling.  Chemosis or swelling of the skin of the eye can occur, as can dry eyes. eyelid closure issues, and irritation.  Worse complications are changes in the shape of the eye, pain, chronic redness and tearing.  These are less common unless heling is delayed (rarely occurs).  These are the basics but the discussion requires a lengthy review.  You can go over this with your surgeon prior to su...
Best Procedure to Remove Dark Circles and Under Eye Hollows?
dark circles under eyes
Oct 15, 2017
To answer this requires an evaluation.  Dark circles are caused by many things.  Shadowing, eye bags above, and the dark color of the muscle and its blood vessels below (under the skin). Usually fillers, lasers or other energy based devices can help.
Upper Eyelid Swelling After Blepharoplasty
eyelid swelling
Oct 15, 2017
It is not unusual to swell for weeks and even up to a few month after surgery.  Also, swelling is more evident in the morning - also not unusual.  When you lay down at night you are horizontal and fluid builds up.  When you are up during the day you are vertical so fluid goes to your feet in a dependent fashion.  If this really concerns you please see your surgeon to reassure
Traditional Blepharoplasty Vs Laser Blepharoplasty for Eye Bags?
lower eye bag surgery
Oct 15, 2017
So a laser can be used like a knife blade (scalpel) or scissors to make an incision and do surgery.  In the end the result is the same - the recovery may be quicker with a laser.  A laser can also be used to improve the texture, quality and "tightness of the skin". This is called skin resurfacing. Sometimes both procedures are needed.  Just know true surgery can be done either with a laser or non-laser to cut tissue.  Hope this helps
What Are the Requirements to Have Insurance Cover Blepharoplasty?
insurance coverage for upper lid skin excess
Oct 15, 2017
So at 37 the odds are probably against you - but each insurance company has specific requirements for defining and showing visual deficit related to heavy upper lids.  You can see you eye doctor wo help who may refer to you an oculoplastic surgeon.  Make sure the accept insurance prior to seeing them
How Can I Fix One Drooping Eye?
lid droop
Oct 15, 2017
So I suggest you see an oculoplastic surgeon to identify what the cause of the asymmetry is so a plan can be drawn up to help.  Often and eyelid muscle weakens causing ptosis (a lower lid) or sometimes skin hangs over the lid to make it appear smaller - called dermatochalasis
How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?
eyelid surgery cost
Oct 15, 2017
This is a complicated answer.  It depends on what needs to be done - upper lids only, lower lids only, all 4 lids - is a brow lift required.  The best answer can be achieved from a formal examination to determine what needs to be done
One Eye Bigger Than the Other?
eyelid asymmetry
Oct 15, 2017
So you have a slight eyelid aperture (opening) asymmetry.  It is subtle and you may be able to mask it with makeup.  It could be the left eye sits further back in the orbit than on the right side.  You certainly can be assessed for this but at your age I would not recommend intervention
Droopy Eyelids - Alternatives to Eyelift Surgery?
droopy eyelid treatment
Oct 15, 2017
Great question.,  There are many factors which can cause lids to droop or appear baggy.  In the upper lids a descended brow, skin or fat excess can all add to heavy upper lids.  These factors need to be evaluated as one unit to come up with an appropriate plan.  It is possible Botox and/or fillers can be used to raise the brows enough to reduce the droopy upper lid appearance.  This is non-surgical - but requires an evaluation to assess.  Similarly lower lid bags and hollow's can be address...
Non-surgical Treatment for Undereye Bags?
Non-surgical treatment for under eye bags
Feb 23, 2016
The safest non-surgical treatment of under eye bags, dark circles and hollows are Hyaluronic Acid Gel fillers. This class of fillers includes Restylane, Belotero, Juvederm, Perlane, Voluma and others. They are all the same product, just made up of different consistencies (ie. density, thickness, flow, etc). Injecting these fillers should not be done indiscriminately without a true understanding of how they work or the differences in their biochemical makeup. It is this knowledge of the...
