Wrinkle Treatments For 32 Year Old Woman?
Treatment recommendation for brow lines
Mar 11, 2012
Botox or Dysport would be a great place to start for the brow furrow (i.e. "11's"). These agents smooth the surface of the skin and the look is often youthful and very natural. The treatment is convenient and simple, with little discomfort and virtually no down time. I believe this option would give you the highest patient satisfaction. Miriam Hanson MD
Post Juvederm Bruising- How Long Will It Last? Can I Speed Healing?
Bruising and healing after Juvederm treatment
Mar 11, 2012
Bruising around the mouth and nose area is quite common after injections. I always tell my patients to avoid aspirin, alcohol, NSAIDs, herbals (G's: Ginkgo, Garlic, Ginseng) at least one week before treatment. If a bruise develops, it usually takes about a week to resolve. The best advice is to find a concealer, such as Dermablend, to hide the bruise during this time. Hang in there! Miriam Hanson MD.
What is the Correct Way to Use Tretinoin?
The application of Tretinoin (Retin-A)
Mar 4, 2012
Tretinoin cream is a great medication for acne. It should be used correctly to minimize the common side effects which include redness, dryness and scaling.

For application: Gently clean your face with a mild or soapless cleanser. Wait 20-30 minutes before applying this medication. Apply a pea-sized amount of cream usually once a day before bedtime. If your skin is sensitive, start once or twice a week and increase the medication as tolerated.

My Face Burns and is Red and Peeling in Some Spots Due to Retin-a. How Can I Get It to Go Away?
Red, burning and peeling after Retin-A
Mar 2, 2012
This is a very common response to Retin-A creams. I usually tell patients to discontinue the medication for one week and then restart it 2x/week and increase as tolerated. Use a gentle moisturizing non-comedogenic (non-acne forming) "cream" 2-3x/day during this build-up phase. The moisturizer will help keep the skin hydrated and these side effects will diminish.
Red Birthmark Under Lower Lip, What Do You Recommend?
Laser therapy is best for red birthmark
Mar 2, 2012
The best treatment for vascular birthmarks is laser therapy, specifically pulse dye (PDL laser). This laser targets blood vessels under the surface of the skin. It can effectively treat redness associated with rosacea, angioms, scars, birthmarks and even some stretch marks.

Best Acne Scarring Options at the Age of 40?
Acne scarring treatment options
Mar 1, 2012
You are not alone to feel this way. Acne scarring is a major problem that can be frustrating and psychologically devastating to patients. Treatments options include subcision, resurfacing laser therapy, chemical peels, dermal fillers, dermabrasion, and mini-excisions of large scars. I often tell patients that a combination of different therapies is the best strategy to achieve improvement.
Can Accutane Be Stopped Before a Trip and Restarted After to Avoid Sun Sensitivity?
Stopping Accutane While On Vacation
Feb 27, 2012
Yes, you can discontinue and restart for a short period of time while on vacation to reduce sun sensitivity. However, you may get an acne flare. I usually recommend to my patients that we lower the dose to 10 mg and then increase back to the full dose when they return. Either way, you should be "Sun Smart" and minimize sun exposure while on vacation. Accutane has a serum half life of 21 hours but can stay in the system for several days to weeks depending on its break down by the liver.
