Am I candidate for upper blepharoplasty for more space on eyelid & to look more awake? Age 27 (Photos)

Thank you for submitting your questions. You appears to have a youthful eye contour and anatomy, with deep-set eyes and a natural appearing upper eyelid crease. At various angles, the platform of the upper eyelid may appear to be wider or narrower, depending on the camera angle. At your age, I would recommend continuing chemical browlifting with neurotoxin such as Botox. Surgery at a very young age like yours may produce a scar without much result. I hope this helps you!

Lower eyelid surgery is an excellent solution for your condition. I would recommend having lower eyelid fat repositioning blepharoplasty where the fat is preserved under the eye to avoid getting hollows and a more tired appearance after surgery. The fat repositioning technique allows the undereye to appear smooth next to the cheek. Additionally, depending on your physical exam, skin and muscle may be tightening, or at times, trimmed, to remove very lax undereye skin. This is a delicate area,…

Great question! This type of surgery is known as ptosis correction. Ptosis surgery, performed by an experienced surgeon, is intended to obtain symmetrical results, however, when performed one side, may lead the other side to shift position due to a neurological reflex. Revision ptosis surgery may need to be performed on both sides (versus one side, although this too may be an option) to obtain the best control of symmetry. The way to decide this decision is to have a detailed in person…

Eyelid BagsYes you absolutely can! I encourage most patients to “test drive” the look of lower eyelid surgery with a minute amount of HA filler. Note that the choice of filler, and the technique, are paramount to a successful result. Many providers do not have surgical experience in this region, and cannot deliver a successful result. I recommend a surgical provider to help you achieve the best result with dermal filler. I hope that helps!
Will eyelid surgery be good for me?

Hi there. Thank you for submitting your question. From your photo, it appears that you have very milk lower eyelid shadowing and upper eyelid asymmetry. For this amount of asymmetry, I would recommend considering nonsurgical options such as the use of HA dermal fillers along the eyelid-cheek area to smooth the area and bring more light, which will have the effect of brightening. A full examination during motion is the best way to start to assess upper eyelid asymmetry. Hope this helps!…
What can I do to achieve facial balance?
Profileplasty
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there, and thanks for submitting your question to RealSelf! Your profile has many attractive features and while you have concerns, from a surgical standpoint, minor changes may be suitable to help you achieve your wishes. As you undergoing orthodontic therapy to help your bite, it would be best to hold on on any surgical changes until this is completed, as your surgeon will wish to plan something permanent against a moving target. I find that the upper lip position can and does change…
I want a nose job, am I suitable for this nose type?
Wish Pic Rhinoplasty
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there and thanks for posting! Your wish pics of Wolfie Cindy show a very elegant, feminine appearing nose with an attractive nasal tip that has a defined amount of rotation. As a surgeon, I find this type of nose to be pleasing, feminine, and achievable. There are countless rhinoplasty techniques that surgeons can use to achieve their results. In fact, it is the truth that no two surgeons will have the exact same plan when performing a rhinoplasty surgery. In my practice, I prefer to use…
Should I practice deep breathing or mouth breathing before rhinoplasty procedure?
Breathing / Rhinoplasty
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there. This is an interesting question and I felt compelled to answer because many patients do not realize that a rhinoplasty surgery will create stuffiness for some time, before returning back to a normal or even better nasal breathing ability. Patients can expect 2-3 weeks of nasal congestion after rhinoplasty, although this varies, and in my practice, I have seen patients experience congested nasal breathing from 1-12 weeks after surgery. Most patients improve every week, so the…
Would I benefit from a rhinoplasty? Is it more expensive when you have a bulbous tip?
Rhinoplasty
Sep 11, 2022
Hey there, and thanks for posting! You are an excellent candidate for cosmetic rhinoplasty surgery given the nature of your concern. A drooping or “plunging” nasal tip is a very common concern that rhinoplasty surgeons address at the time of the operation. The nasal tip can be set to be closer to the face – also known as “deprojection” – as well as rotated slightly upward – also known as “rotation”. In addition to techniques that create stability in the nose, when performed correctly, these…
How long is a rhinoplasty consultation?
Rhinoplasty Consultation
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there. A rhinoplasty consultation usually takes 1 hour in my practice. There is time to obtain professional photographs, to help guide the discussion during the surgeon-patient portion of the consultation. There is also a good amount of time set aside to ask questions, and learn more about what my patients are looking to achieve. This usually involves looking at personal photographs, where patients point out angles and views they notice and hope to improve. And finally, there is the…
I’ve heard fixing a crooked nose is more complicated, is this true?
Crooked nose
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there – great question!. A crooked nose is a very common finding that nasal surgeons address. Particularly, it requires a very meticulous attention to detail both for internal nasal anatomy as well as external nasal anatomy. The nose has connection points to the upper jaw, particularly along the nasal tip, and an experienced surgeon will take the time to relocate this connection point with proper techniques. This will help to realign the nasal tip more towards the “facial mideline”. A…
Is it safe to do a lip lift 3 days after rhinoplasty?
Lip lift post rhinoplasty
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there! Great questions and thanks for submitting. Rhinoplasty surgery typically causes swelling underneath the nose, which is where a lip lift is commonly performed. There are other types of lip lifts that can be performed directly above the pink line of the lip, however, there is still a degree of swelling along the entire lip. Also, rhinoplasty aftercare typically involves cleaning drainage from the nostrils. While it is possible to perform lip lift soon after rhinoplasty, for all the…
Is it possible to just get my nose tip refined?
Tip Definition
Sep 11, 2022
Hi there! It is absolutely possible to perform a limited approach rhinoplasty such as a tip-plasty, in which the nasal tip is refined and made to appear more slender. It is always best to start with a full set of professional photographs to assess the nose from all angles with your surgeon, and to really ensure that this is the only portion of the nose that you desire to improve. Occassionally, depending on the needs of the case, additional cartilage may be needed, and usually taken from the…
Is it possible to remove dorsal hump only or would the tip also be required?
Dorsal Hump Change
Sep 10, 2022
Hi there and thank you for your questions. A “bump” along the bridge of the nose is one of the most common nasal surgery concerns a facial plastic surgeon faces. It is very possible to “shave” or remove the bump of the nose without drastically changing the remainder of the nose, especially if you are pleased with the shape. However, as surgeons, our role is guide patients to understanding that when changing the size/shape of one feature, it is common that the other features may appear…
Rhinoplasty and filler – can existing filler affect rhinoplasty results?
Filler and Rhinoplasty
Sep 10, 2022
This is a great question! The answer is yes – having filler placed under the skin of the nose may affect your surgeon’s ability to judge the exact shape and contour of the nasal skin, which can be very thin and very delicate along certain portions of the nasal bridge. Depending on your skin thickness, a surgeon may feel that using a medicine to reverse the filler (if it is a filler that can be reversed) is helpful to ensure the best possible results. In my practice, I ask my patients to see…
