Is there a procedure to fix the skin after OTC corn treatment?
Hypopigmentation scar
Nov 8, 2022
Hello! Unfortunately, once skin loses its pigmentation ability, it is essentially lost. This is called hypopigmentation. The best fix for this on a non-facial area is really paramedical tattooing if the pigmentation difference bothers you. In all honesty, it is unlikely anyone but you notices it. However, if it is something that you want to be changed, I would recommend considering tattooing the light area so it better matches the surrounding skin. Paramedical tattoo artists are the same…
How safe is it to combine Daxxify with other injectables?
Daxxify and filler interaction
Nov 8, 2022
Hello! There is no data on the Daxxify manufacturer’s website (Revance Aesthetics) indicating adverse reactions or cross-reactions with filler products. Fillers, such as Juvaderm, are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that naturally occurs in the body and gives skin a full, hydrated and supple appearance. Fillers eventually resorb over time because the enzyme hyaluronidase, made in the body, slowly breaks them down. Hyaluronidase is also made in a manufactured (synthetic form),…
Should I reschedule dental cleaning booked for 4 days after cheek filler?
Dental appointments before/after filler
Nov 7, 2022
Hello! Yes. I would recommend rescheduling one or the other. Filler is technically an implant (although a non-permanent one). When dental cleanings are performed, some of the bacteria from the gums and teeth can get into the bloodstream and get deposited on implants. This is why patients with some implants (such as mechanical heart valves) always get antibiotics when they get their teeth cleaned or have other dental work done. So as a general preventive measure (although I recommend good…
How would I go about fixing the aesthetics and shape of my eyes?
Canthoplasty
Nov 7, 2022
Hello! What you are describing is called scleral show and you are correct about the terminology canthal tilt. Typically, excess scleral show on the lower outer aspect of the eyes is caused by too much lower eyelid laxity (as with aging), a lower eyelid that is too tight (usually due to over-resection of lower eyelid skin during a lower eyelid lift procedure, i.e. a blepharoplasty), or simply due to genetics/development. To correct this, a small procedure called a canthoplasty can be…
6 months post breast lift revision, already sagging. What can be causing this and what are my options
Recurrent breast ptosis (sagging)
Nov 3, 2022
Hello! I’m sorry to hear about your experience. Yes, tissue elasticity and skin tone play a part in breast sagging/drooping (medically called breast ptosis) and this is largely determined by genetics and life experiences (i.e. more likely in patients that have had significant changes in their weight and/or have a history of smoking). Breast implants also contribute to this where the larger the implant, the heavier it weighs down on the breast envelope and more tendency for the breast to…
3rd-degree burn scars, currently have a skin graph on my hands – what are my options?
Burn scar contractures of the hands
Nov 3, 2022
Hello! Your hands look great considering how bad your burns were. That being said, the hands (and particularly the webspaces between fingers) are prone to developing contractures that limit the movement of the fingers. This is called a burn scar contracture and webspace creep, the latter of which also happens after reconstructing fingers that are congenitally stuck together (i.e. syndactyly). One of the best and most straightforward ways to treat this is with a small procedure to break up…
Are Daxxify injections painful? Do I have the option to numb treatment areas?
Daxxify injections
Nov 3, 2022
Hello! The injections for Daxxify shouldn’t be much different than those for other neurotoxins. It does depend somewhat on your injector’s technique, but for the most part I would expect the injections to be very similar to those of other neurotoxin brands (very small needles, similar injection patterns, etc. ). You certainly can request to have numbing cream applied beforehand, but if you do, I would recommend letting your injectionist know beforehand and plan to arrive 15-30min ahead of…
