Answer Snippet
2 months post op. Lower breast still numb. Will the feeling come back?
Numbness can be expected.
Jan 23, 2023
It is normal for the breasts to have a different sensation or even numbness in parts during the healing process. Most often, these sensations will improve over time, usually by 6-12 months. There probably isn’t very much you can do to improve this, expect to have some patience during this time. Good luck!
Can I have Buccal fat removal a month after Rhinoplasty?
Likely ok…..
Sep 29, 2019
1 month is the bare minimum to wait after your rhinoplasty;  safer yet would be to wait until you are 3 months out from surgery.   I would make sure you are healing well from your previous surgery, check with your surgeon and then proceed.  Good luck!
Is it a waste of money to have a facial fat transfer at age 30 for tear troughs?
Fat grafting has advantages in the tear trough
May 13, 2019
I’m not a big fan of fillers in the tear trough over a long period of time.  I have seen many patients over the years who have started with fillers at a relatively young age and had multiple filler injections repeated, only to get an artificial, over-injected, swollen, “bluish” look under the lids.   It is important to obtain a detailed evaluation by your Board Certified plastic surgeon who can discuss the best options for you, including fillers versus fat grafting.
Do you recommend contouring for my face with fat grafting, or a mini facelift?
Too young for a mini-lift
May 13, 2019
There are many options for your face, both surgical and non surgical.  Going into a mini-face lift at this age is premature and I’m not sure what kind of advice your are receiving from your doctors, but I recommend seeing a Board Certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate and address your concerns.   Is there a specific reason you don’t want fillers?  Remember, it’s all about safety and simplicity.
What went wrong as I have no skin on the bottom back part of my ear?
Hard to tell without seeing you
May 13, 2019
It’s hard to tell definitively what happened with your surgery.  Your original surgeon probably has a better explanation of what happened, but there is likely a combination of scar contracture and some skin excision that led to having a bit of skin deficit.   It would be helpful to see your preoperative photos and best to discuss this issue with your original surgeon.
Normal healing week after otoplasty?
Some skin bruising
May 13, 2019
It’s hard to tell from these photos alone, but there is some significant skin bruising.  Please make sure there is no blood collection in the area with your surgeon.  It will take several weeks for swelling and bruising to improve.
Will the lumps and bumps on my eyelids after double eyelids surgery go away?
Wait a couple of months
May 6, 2019
It sounds like you just had blepharoplasty 3 weeks ago and are having some reactions to the sutures–this is normal.  Give it a little more time.  If there is significant redness, pain, and drainage, consult with your surgeon as soon as possible.  good luck!
Can I go from a tapered crease to a parallel crease?
Crease shape can be altered
May 6, 2019
If you have a naturally tapered crease, it can be changed to parallel crease but you will likely need a medial epicanthoplasty to achieve this.   If you had previous surgery in this area already, it is more difficult to achieve these changes.  Please meet with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in Asian eyelid surgery.  Good luck!
Options for Enlargement of Asian Eyes
Asian eyelid blepharoplasty should help
May 6, 2019
You would likely benefit from Asian eyelid blepharoplasty which will automatically make your eyes look a bit “larger.”  You may also benefit from a medial epicanthoplasty and a levator advancement, but I would recommend seeing a plastic surgeon with Asian eyelid expertise who can evaluate your eyes in more detail.   Good luck!
1 month post op BA, half of my left breast is completely numb. Will this go away with time? Ca
Numbness can be expected.
May 6, 2019
It is normal for the breasts to have a different sensation or even numbness in parts during the healing process.  Most often, these sensations will improve over time, usually by 6-12 months.  There probably isn’t very much you can do to improve this, expect to have some patience during this time.  Good luck!
How long should I used ice pads post SMAS facelift?
Not a fan of ice over skin flaps….
May 6, 2019
It is normal to have swelling after facelift for 3-6 weeks.   I’m not a big fan of ice over the skin because ice can decrease blood flow to the skin–which is not good.  Ice can help somewhat with swelling and pain, but you need to be very careful with using too much ice.  There are strict protocols for using ice on the skin (example:  15 min on per hour, with a protective layer over the skin).   You appear to be healing nicely.  Good luck!
Facelift results disappeared after 5 months, should I have a revision?
Difficult to tell from photos and need more information
Apr 29, 2019
Hello, sorry to hear of your disappointment; looking from these photos, it is difficult to tell how and evaluate any objective measurements.  It would be important to know what sort of “lift” procedure you had, but at this time, it is probably best to wait and return to your previous surgeon to discuss.  Good luck!
If I have thick skin and brown skin, would I have more risk of scars in an epicanthoplasty?
Technique is more important than skin color
Apr 29, 2019
You ask a very good question, understanding that thicker and darker skin is associated with thicker scars.   In my experience of having operated on many dark skinned Asians, Hispanics, and African Americans in the eyelid region, the proper technique in the medial epicanthal region provides the best results with minimal scarring.  If you are a good candidate for this procedure, make sure your plastic surgeon has a lot of experience with medial epicanthoplasty.
Do you think it’s possible to make the mini eye lid that has an uneven crease to look like my
Asymmetric creases are common
Apr 29, 2019
The issue you are describing is very common, and the tape you are using may not be holding the crease in the exact position that your other eyelid crease is at.  I recommend seeing a plastic surgeon with significant Asian eyelid expertise who can evaluate both of your eyes and set up the best option for you.
Can Buccal fat pad removal go wrong?
Any surgery procedure can go wrong…..
Mar 7, 2019
Specifically regarding buccal fat pad removal, the things that can go wrong include asymmetry, imbalance, parotid duct injury, and nerve injury.   Overall, the procedure is quite safe (can be done under local anesthesia)  and normally results are very good.  You will need to discuss these issues in more detail with your surgeon.  Good luck!
