Bump on nose
Dec 24, 2020
Hello and thanks for the question. Sometimes small irregularities and bumps along the bridge of the nose can be removed in the office setting under local anesthesia. Its difficult to tell without a full examination if you would be a candidate for this. If you are and its the only thing that is done, the recovery would be quite short. Some swelling and perhaps some bruising for a few days with minimal pain. I recommend a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon with expertise in...
How do you know not to hit a vessel during closed rhinoplasty (afraid of blindness)?
Closed Rhinoplasty
Apr 27, 2020
Hello and thanks for the question.  As someone who also performed the closed approach, the likelihood of blindness is exceedingly rare and the closed approach does not make it more likely to occur compared to the open approach. In terms of knowing how much to "shave", this is dependent on the skill and expertise of the surgeon; again the approach does not necessarily increase the risk of "shaving too much" or "creating a hole". Hope that helps and good luck
Does revision rhinoplasty recovery take longer?
Revision rhinoplasty recovery
Feb 4, 2020
Hello and thanks for the question.  The duration of the recovery depends a bit on the extent of the surgery. No two revision rhinoplasties are the same. Some can be smaller procedures with relatively minimal modifications being made, while other revision surgeries can be quite extensive.  If you required extensive cartilage grafting etc...then yes it is not uncommon for the recovery period to last several weeks up to several months. And in fact the final result can take up to 2 years.  Hop...
After-care for Lip Augmentation Using Juvederm?
After care following lip injections
Feb 4, 2020
Hello and thanks for the question.  There tends to be some swelling and occasional bruising following the injections.  This can vary depending on skin type and amount of product that is injected. You can use ice to help with these issues. Also Tylenol or Ibuprofen can be taken.  I personally allow my patients to resume full activity the same day as the injection.  Generally time off from work is not necessary. Hope that helps and good luck
How Long Should Swelling and Numbness Last After a Facelift?
Swelling and numbness following facelift
Feb 4, 2020
Hello and thanks for the question. There is a lot of variability regarding the recovery following the procedures you describe. Numbness around the sides of the face and ears is quite common and can take several months to fully resolve, though it generally improves with each passing week.  Swelling is similar in the sense that much of it improves in the first few weeks, however it continues to slowly dissipate over the ensuing weeks and can take a few months to fully resolve.  Hope that h...
Returning to work in smoke filled environment after rhinoplasty?
rhinoplasty recovery
Aug 15, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. You are correct that smoke of any kind is not ideal for recovering following surgery. I would recommend avoiding the smoke filled environment for 1-2 weeks following surgery but I would discuss this concern with your surgeon as there is a lot of surgeon to surgeon variability on this topic. Good luck
I would like the bridge to be even with rest of my nose. I'm not sure what kind of treatment would help
nose refinement
Aug 15, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. It's difficult to fully assess from your photo but after a skin cancer is removed from the nose a small defect or divot can be left behind.  There are some surgical and non-surgical options that can be used to smooth these areas.  I would recommend an appointment with a board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon who has expertise in reconstruction to discuss these options further.
4 months post rhino-septoplasty, crooked tip?
revision rhinoplasty
Aug 15, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. I agree that there is some asymmetric fullness to the tip of your nose. At 4 months following surgery it is entirely possible that this is swelling. I recommend that you continue to observe for now. You can consider gentle massage of the area but you should discuss different options for reducing swelling with your surgeon. Good luck
Can my nose be straightened? What work do you think I need to a good profile on all angles and a straig
Crooked nose
Aug 15, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. Based on your photos you do have a significant crooked nose. This usually requires a surgery known as septorhinoplasty to re-set the inside and outside of your nose to bring things in to better alignment.  This can be a challenging procedure so I recommend discussing with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon to discuss the surgery further.
What could be done to improve my nose during rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty
Aug 15, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. Its difficult to fully analyze from these 2 photos but the tip of your nose does look a touch side. The side view looks basically fine. I would consider an in-person consultation to discuss these concerns further.
After an initial open rhinoplasty, my tip is more angular and pointy. Is it possible to have a revision
Revision Rhinoplasty
Jul 8, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. Based on your photos, you have a very reasonable and natural result. Obviously if you are very bothered by the tip you can consider a revision, though I would recommend having a thorough discussion with a rhinoplasty expert, as very subtle refinements require a great deal of expertise. Good luck
How risky is a thick-tipped septoplasty?
Rhinoplasty
Jul 7, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. It is difficult to make a full assessment from the photos but it does seem that you would benefit from rhinoplasty; specifically removal of the hump and elevation of the tip.  The most important aspect of the surgery is that you are comfortable with your surgeon. Ensure that they are board certified in plastic surgery or facial plastic surgery and also that they perform rhinoplasty frequently.  You should also be able to see examples of their results.  Goo...
It's two weeks since my mini-lift. Is it possible to have more pain now behind my ears n sides of neck.
Pain after mini lift
Jun 30, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question. Pain and tightness 2 weeks after a mini lift is not uncommon. It should continue to improve but may take a few more weeks. You can consider gentle massage of the area or warm/cool compresses. If the issue doesn’t improve I recommend seeing your surgeon to discuss further.
3 years post rhinoplasty. What should I use to treat pimples inside the nose? Please reply
Pimple after rhinoplasty
Jun 30, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question.  Standard acne products may be beneficial.  It will likely resolve without causing any nostril deformity.  I recommend seeing your surgeon to discuss further.
Is it safe to have a “liquid nose job” or fillers on the nose after you’ve already had 2 operations?
Liquid rhinoplasty
Jun 26, 2019
Hello and thanks for the question.  Liquid rhinoplasty is definitely not indicated for all patients.  It is generally used in patients who have a weak nasal bridge that needs augmenting.  There are risks associated with the procedure. I recommended seeing a board certified rhinoplasty surgeon to discuss if you would be a candidate. Good luck.
