Tummy tuck is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by OHIP. There is a procedure called a panniculectomy which if approved is covered by OHIP. A panniculectomy is excess skin in the pannus area also referred to as an apron, that hangs down over the genitals and or thighs. Pain is subjective. We do provide oral medication to treat post operative pain. You will be closely monitored once week for follow ups or more if neccessary for approximately 4 weeks. Full recovery meaning back to activities such as exercise and daily lifting is approximately 6 weeks. All our patients are provided with pre op and post op care. It is always best to follow the instructions of your plastic surgeon.

You’re best course of action would be to have a consultation with a reputable, board certified plastic surgeon, first and foremost, to discuss the best options for you. Then, an application can be made to OHIP for coverage. Although they have certain criteria that need to be met, they also do look at each applicant on an individual basis. All the best.

It does not sound like your desires are unrealistic, given your height and weight and bra size. However, only an proper assessment could determine whether you are a candidate or not. And if you are a candidate and an Ontario resident, an application would need to be submitted for approval. I would advise you to see another plastic surgeon and as suggested by my colleagues, opt to pay for the procedure yourself.All the best.
