Cauterization surgery as a kid left my left nostril fused together with scar tissue, how can
Rare complication of cauterization
Nov 6, 2019
Scaring causing narrowing or obliterating the nasal opening is a rare complication of cauterization. Sometimes the scaring is thin (front to back) and may be simply opened. Sometimes more significant surgery with cartilage grafting, taken from the nasal septum, ear or rib may be necessary. If the scars are thick enough it may require skin grafting to cover the raw area created in separating the scar. Preventing the opposing sides from touching and fusing together in the healing process…
Can I continue to take antibiotics after CO2 laser?
Always contact your treating Doctor
Nov 5, 2019
Best to contact your treating doctor but taking antibiotics after laser resurfacing is routine. Taking antibiotics wont necessarily stop white heads which are stimulated by the laser and after the occlusive ointments.
Why is my Dorsal Hump Getting Bigger?
Rigidly Fixed
Nov 3, 2019
The hump is rigidly fixed so does not itself change, when the tip is pushed in it makes the hump look bigger. Cost of surgery varies widely depending on how extensive surgery is required or performed. Often (always with some surgeons) when a hump is reduced it requires cartilage grafting to keep it strong. Cost could vary from $5,000 – $15,000.
I have a protruding cartilage flap into my left nostril was wondering roughy how much is the
Examination Required
Nov 3, 2019
It is not really possible to tell just from reading the description. It would take an examination to determine what cartilage it is, and what could happen if it was removed – Does it need cartilage put back in to replace it? Just taking cartilage can lead to immediate or slow evolving change to appearance or the nasal airway.
A question about general v. conscious sedation during full facelift. How is it different for
Sedation for facelift – every time!
Feb 25, 2015
I have performed many facelifts under conscious sedation. The “conscious” part is a misnomer. You should be asleep the whole time. But easily rousable if needed and the natural protective airway reflexes are intact so you dont need a tube down your throat for breathing. So long as you dont feel any pain (because of the local) and it is relatively quiet (I use very light sedation and noise can make a patient stir) you will be asleep. Some doctors use heavier sedation and even loud noise won’t…
