10 units of Xeomin for 11s 3 days ago, no change
10 units of Xeomin for 11s 3 days ago, no change

It never hurts to be conservative your first time getting a treatment. Neuromodulators can take 3-7 days to start noticing effect, with maximal effect noticed around 2 weeks. Don't be discouraged yet! Also, you can always have more units placed, while if too much was placed and you did not like that effect you would have to wait until the medication wears off. Try to schedule a 2-3 week follow up with your provider after your treatment to ensure that you can discuss the results and see if...
Is it okay to get Xeomin around my eyes if I have problems with dry eye?
Is it okay to get Xeomin around my eyes if I have problems with dry eye?
Sep 9, 2020
I would highly recommend seeing a provider who is comfortable injecting around the eyes and can monitor your dry eyes, such as an oculoplastic surgeon. Injection locations around the eyes must be very targeted to prevent lagophthalmos (inability to close the eyes) which can worsen your dry eye.
How long do Restylane Lyft results typically last?
How long do Restylane Lyft results typically last?
Sep 9, 2020
Restylane Lyft is FDA approved for cheek augmentation (lasting approximately 12 months), deep dermal folds such as the nasolabial folds (lasting approximately 12-18 months) and the dorsal aspect of the hands (lasting approximately 6 months). Placement location, amount injected and how your body metabolizes it will affect how long it lasts.
Will Restylane help my under eyes?
Will Restylane help my under eyes?
Sep 9, 2020
Based upon the photograph that you provided, I would highly recommend that you see an oculoplastic surgeon for a complete eyelid evaluation and discussion of your goals and expectations. There is no "one plan fits all" when it comes to treatment as there are many factors to consider. Understanding all of your options prior to committing to a decision is very important. In your picture you do appear to have "bags" or fat that is prolapsed which may make you a less than ideal candidate for...
My doctor told me it is safe to use my same syringe of Juvederm 4 weeks after my initial injection.
Is it safe to use my same syringe of Juvederm 4 weeks after my initial injection?
Sep 9, 2020
Thank you for this important question. Patient safety, rather than concern of money or filler lost, should be the driving factor in this decision. Saving unused filler in an open syringe is not recommended as it poses a risk of product contamination resulting in infection or further potential complications to the patient. There is also the real risk, as mistakes occur, that patient's may receive filler that was saved from a different patient. It is best to either use the entire syringe in...

I’m immune to Botox - yes, I really am. Will Jeuveau work for me ?
Sep 9, 2020
Hello, thank you for your question. When you say you are immune to botox - do your effects just not last long enough? When you switched to Dysport and Xeomin were you getting any effect? If you have not had any adverse reactions, I would think it is worth a try to see if you like how Jeuveau may work for you. I have been using Jeuveua on my patients since it first came out and have been very happy with the results. I use all of the products in my office, and while there are similarities...
How Many Botox Units for 11's or Frown Lines?
How Many Botox Units for 11's or Frown Lines?
Sep 9, 2020
The average dose, what is recommended from the company based upon studies to receive FDA approval, is 20 units to the glabellar lines (“11”). There are a couple of things to consider: (1) You need to allow 3-7 days for the medication effect to start to show, and it will usually be maximally effective around 2 weeks.(2) You may not notice complete disappearance of your lines/wrinkles as these took time to develop and could take multiple treatments each time making them softer, so mai...
How long should I wait to have Botox and fillers after an infection in the soft tissue of my face?
How long should I wait to have Botox and fillers after an infection in the soft tissue of my face?
Sep 9, 2020
I would always take caution if there is a known infection. Injectables are elective procedures with real risks, and proceeding with treatment with an active infection could cause detrimental issues that are best to be avoided. I would recommend to complete your course of antibiotics and obtain clearance from your dentist and please always let your injector aware of your history. Once your infection has cleared, you should be ok to receive botox injections. Fillers, however, can get infected...
Injector couldn’t inject cheek fillers. Can anyone help?
Re: Injector couldn’t inject cheek fillers
Sep 9, 2020
Hello, I am sorry to hear this happened to you and the stress that this event is causing you. From what you are explaining, it sounds like the injector may not have been comfortable treating this area or not comfortable with the cannula technique. It is less likely that the issue was with your skin or face, and I would recommend you obtain a second opinion from a board-certified physician experienced and comfortable with injectables, such as oculoplastic/plastic surgeons or dermatologists.
Is it possible for Botox to be watered down to make it less effective?
Re: Is it possible for Botox to be watered down to make it less effective?
Sep 9, 2020
Hello, thank you for your question. It can be frustrating to have a treatment and not get the results you were hoping for, but I am glad to hear that you went back to the doctor you had been going to. Botox vials have to be reconstituted with saline prior to injection. Most practices are used to specifically how much saline they use to reconstitute a 50 or 100 unit vial, therefore knowing how many units you should receive per injection. Depending on who prepared the botox, if a different...
How Long Until Plastic Surgery Stitches Dissolve?
How Long Until Plastic Surgery Stitches Dissolve?
Dec 19, 2019
This all depends on which kind of dissolvable suture was placed in the eyelids. I tend to use 6-0 fast absorbing plain gut suture which dissolves in 1-2 weeks. There are some patients who still have some residual suture at 2-3 weeks in which case it can be removed. Keep the sutures moist with antibiotic eye ointment/vaseline. They can be itchy as they are dissolving!
Why Are my Eyes Different Sizes?
Why are my eyes different sizes?
Dec 19, 2019
Based off of this photograph, it is most noticeable that your eyebrows are asymmetric. Your left brow appears higher than the right. I recommend an examination with an oculoplastic specialist to better determine if you are compensating for left upper eyelid ptosis (droopy upper eyelid muscle) by raising your left eyebrow or if you have right brow drooping. The eyes appear to be different because there is a more hollow appearance to the left upper eyelid, likely due to the...
What is the standard eyelid surgery recovery time?
Eyelid surgery recovery time
Dec 19, 2019
There really isn't a true standard recovery time as it varies from patient to patient. Most patients are back to work in 1-2 weeks, but I have found that depends on one's comfort level of returning to work while still looking swollen and/or bruised. It is important to take into consideration if multiple procedures were done at once (i.e. ptosis repair and blepharoplasty, upper and lower eyelid surgery at the same time), amount of bleeding in surgery,...
Do I have ptosis? When I asked my physician he only says I look great and nothing is nothing wrong w
Do I have ptosis?
Dec 19, 2019
Thank you for submitting photographs with your question. As our colleagues have mentioned, I agree that you do not not have upper eyelid ptosis. There is, however, some lower eyelid retraction (the white of your eye is showing just above your lower eyelids). This can definitely exacerbate dry eyes and I would recommend you have an exam with an Ophthalmologist or Oculoplastic surgeon so they can take a close look at your eyes with special stains. Start...
What Can I Do to Lessen Scars After Blepharoplasty?
How to treat scars after blepharoplasty
Nov 20, 2019
Visible scars after eyelid surgery are never desirable and I am sorry to hear you facing this. I would recommend seeking the opinion of an oculoplastic surgeon (eyelid specialist) who may be able to help. Sometimes, steroid creams with massage or injections of certain medications (steroid or 5FU) can help address certain scars. Surgical scar revision may or may not be an option depending on the location, how much skin was already removed, how much skin is...
