Burning Sensation with my New Breast Implants with a Lift?
Burning Sensation after Breast Augmentation often due to minor nerve irritation.
Apr 23, 2012
Apr 23, 2012
Placing a breast implant stretches the overlying tissue within which run the nerves supplying sensation to the breast skin. Your brain interprets this "stretched nerve feeling" as being different than normal, often a feeling that is irritating or burning. This is very frequent after breast augmentation, particularly with larger implants, and often over the lateral (outer) aspect of the breast. It will settle over several months. I have my patients desensitize the…
Can Neucrosis of the Belly Button Spread?
Necrotic belly button
Mar 21, 2012
Mar 21, 2012
What you're describing does occasionally happen with a tummy tuck. The good news is it may slow down your overall healing but in the long term usually has no negative effect on your final result. With most types of tummy tuck, an incision is made around the edge of the belly button separating it from the surrounding skin. As a result the only blood supply to the belly button after surgery comes from the stalk of the belly button. If anything interferes with this blood supply…
Different Doctors Have Suggested Benelli or Full Anchor Lift, Which Would be Best?
There’s more to the breast lift than just the scar
Feb 2, 2012
Feb 2, 2012
I agree with the surgeons who have suggested you would do well with a vertical ("lollipop") type of lift. The advantage of this technique is what the surgeon can do beneath the skin to improve the shape of your breast. The loose lower part of your breast can be tightened internally and sometimes we will use some of the lower tissue to move higher in the breast, essentially using your own tissue to create the effect of a small implant. Typically the scars heal well. The…
Double Bubble or Bottoming Out?
Bottoming out and double bubble are often related
Jan 18, 2012
Jan 18, 2012
You have a problem that is not uncommon. It happens with large implants particularly when your previous breast crease was fairly high and deep set, perhaps with a little bit of droop to the lower breast. The line creating the double bubble and in which your surgeon placed the incision represents the bottom of your old breast and the natural crease from before. Now the implant has slid below this line or perhaps was deliberately placed there. It is more of an issue with larger…
Advantages of Ear Cartilage for Asian Bridge Job?
Different ways of using your own cartilage for making a nasal bridge
Dec 22, 2011
Dec 22, 2011
Silicone nasal implants for the nasal bridge have been used extensively particularly in Asia. I've used them for many years and they usually work very well. Only rarely do they get infected as long as they're not used to augment the tip as well. They are often a bit mobile; can be asymmetric; and sometimes the edges can be felt. Cartilage from the ear is a good alternative. If I use ear cartilage I prefer to dice it (cut it into very small pieces that I then inject…
Was Told there was a Risk of Losing my Nipples if I Had Second Breast Reduction, is this Likely?
secondary breast reduction, risk of nipple loss
Dec 22, 2011
Dec 22, 2011
The situation you describe is one most plastic surgeons encounter fairly frequently. The risk of nipple loss your plastic surgeon advised you of is real and exists with all breast reduction or lift surgery. The risk is probably slightly higher in secondary surgery, particularly if the second surgeon doesn't know what surgical technique was used the first time round. Having said that most surgeons do secondary surgeries like this regularly, I've done many such surgeries…
My Nose Is Flat And Wide, Am I A Candidate For Rhinoplasty?
You will benefit from rhinoplasty
Aug 30, 2011
Aug 30, 2011
The appearance of your nose will almost certainly be improved by rhinoplasty. In my practice I judge whether a patient of your age is suitable to proceed based on their maturity when I talk to them and whether they have strong parental support for the surgery. If your family does not support you having surgery at age 14, you should wait until you are older. Because your nose is wide and has thick skin it will take some time for the skin to recontour to the shape the surgeon…
