My Absorbable sutures in neck and under ears are not absorbed after 3 months and are causing pain.
slow absorption of sutures
May 22, 2019
As long as the suture is absorbable, it would be very unusual for it not to completely disappear EVENTUALLY.  This usually happens in 3-4 months, but I have seen it take up to a year in some individual.
How long should I wait to get a chemical peel TCA 35%, after having a facelift?
TCA and facelift
May 22, 2019
IN many cases, I am able to offer the TCA peel at the time of the facelift, carefully applying to the areas that can be treated.  In other cases, a patient and I may elect to treat the two areas separately.  The trick is treat each case individually and make a prudent decision, since there’s no obvious answer to this case.
Different doctors, different amounts of fillers suggested? Why?
How much filler to inject
Apr 26, 2019
Different patients (and doctors) will prefer different amounts, based on their goals and expectations.  I always suggest my patients start small, and more if they would like.  There’s no deadline.  There’s no race.  The mistake would be to put in too much at one time.  You can see the results right away, so you can literally perfect it to your desire as the doctor injects for you little by little.Find a doctor you trust, and work with them.  If you don’t trust they are giving you the right r…
I tried Ultherapy and Botox. Am I out of options for my eyelids or can I try something else before
Improving the upper eyelid
Apr 15, 2019
The two treatments you have had are the proper non-surgical treatments for upper eyelids.  In select cases, I’ve been able to make patients happy without eyelid surgery, by adding fillers and lasers and chemical peels to the above.  It all depends on what your expectations are and what it will take to make you happy with the improvement.  Of course you don’t have to have surgery if you don’t want to, but then you also cannot expect the maximum improvement.  Your age has nothing to do wit…
Is there a key to finding true revision bleph experts? Searching board cert. eye surgeons, ASOPRS
Revision bleph experts
Apr 15, 2019
You can try one of the following:- ask other surgeons in your area whom they would use- ask your primary doctor or original surgeon to recommend someone to you- seek help from a surgeon at an academic center (not always a guarantee)- consult with several surgeons yourself and gauge whom you think is the best person from personality, character, and experience standpoint, to help you.Above all, make sure they are board certified in the right specialty (plastic surgery, oculoplastic, or facial…
Is it safe to do Ultrasound Therapy in neck and jowls myself at home? Am I doing the best treatmen
Ultrasound therapy for scar tissue
Apr 15, 2019
This would be about as safe as fixing your own brakes at home.  If you are a trained automotive tech, then you might be safe changing your own disc brakes.  Of course you can look it up on youtube, but it’s not the same as being trained and experienced.IN this case, if you are trained and experienced at treating scars with ultrasounds, then you might be fine.  If not, how do you that you are doing the treatment safely, and more importantly, how do you know that you’re doing it CORRE…
,My question is would I be a candidate for lipo surgery after 2 heart attacks and stints
Lipo after heart attacks and cardiac stents
Apr 15, 2019
The answer depends on whether or not your heart situation is stable and whether your body can safely go through the surgery.  I would recommend you first see a board-certified plastic surgeon to see if you’re a good candidate, then have that surgeon work with your heart doctor to determine the safety of the proposed plan.No cosmetic surgery is worth jeopardizing your health.  I have done liposuction surgery and even larger procedures on patients with a heart history, but to make them safe, w…
Would I benefit from eyelid surgery at 50, or is it too soon?
Too soon for plastic surgery
Apr 10, 2019
My patients sometimes as me if it’s too early to have an operation for something that they are concerned about.  I tell them it’s like asking if it’s too early to eat, when they are really hungry.  The real question should be this, for your doctor:  can treatment help you with your condition?  Whether it’s too early or not is a matter of your finances, your assessment of how badly you want the treatment, and whether you are comfortable with the risks.  In other words, as long as you are the …
Different BWD measurements from different surgeons?
Breast width
Apr 10, 2019
Your question should be directed at the surgeons who measure you, to find out what they consider to be your width.  It’s possible that one surgeon is considering your width to be that of the implant he/she is planning to use, and the other is measuring your breast from one side to the other.  The first measurement will always be smaller than the second. You should always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon (double check on ABPS web site) to ensure you are getting good advice and yo…
Does Ultherapy work well on front of thighs and knees?
Ultherpay for knees
Apr 10, 2019
In my experience, Ultherapy is quite good at maintaining skin for face, neck, and upper chest, but not as good for other locations of the body. You should always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon (double check on ABPS web site) to ensure you are getting good advice and you are receiving safe surgery.
Suggestions for 18 year old getting breast augmentation?
breast augmentation for 18 year old
Apr 10, 2019
As a young person, the FDA has approved saline implants for those over 18, but silicone gel implants are approved for those above 22 (meaning that for you it would be off label use).  You should always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon (double check on ABPS web site) to ensure you are getting good advice and you are receiving safe surgery.
Do you have suggestions why my left breast is more swollen and harder?
swelling after surgery
Feb 21, 2019
Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.  You still have a lot of bruising for being four weeks after surgery, so please be sure to see your surgeon and find out if everything is healing well.
Do I need a tummy tuck plus lipo or just lipo after revision?
Flat abdomen
Feb 21, 2019
Unfortunately it seems that you have some looseness of the skin of your abdomen,   For that reason, only tummy  tuck in my experience can get you what you’re looking for. Of course you have to be OK with getting a tummy tuck scar to go with that. Be sure to see a board-certified plastic  surgeon only for this type of procedure. Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.
Can Sculptra be injected to give me hips and laterals?
Sculptra off face use
Feb 21, 2019
Although it is possible to give people augmentation in areas other than the face with this product, in my experience it takes a lot of the product, so the patient has to be less sensitive to pricing.
I have silicone breast implants and they need to be replaced – can I go off my Xarelto and go on L
Blood thinners and surgery
Feb 5, 2019
Decisions about blood thinner management around surgery are serious and should be made in consultation with your own surgeon and also with your doctor who manages the blood thinner.  You should not listen to advice online from doctors that may not know your situation closely. In good hands, and for the right candidates, the results can be safe with blood thinner management, so be sure to select a board-certified experienced plastic surgeon to evaluate and treat you.
