What we know about nerve injury when we are trying to create it is you must stay on the nerve with a temperature of 85 degrees C to ablate it. Most Otolaryngologists performing facelifts are either fellowship trained or Board Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. If either of those credentials apply they are highly trained to do facelift surgery. If they are not fellowship trained or board certified in FPS you should ask questions as to the level of experience they have both in training and in clinical practice.
