12 days post-op, is it safe to clean my nose with a q-tip?
Cleaning inside nose after surgery
May 5, 2019
Thanks for the enquiry.
I would recommend doing minimal internal cleaning and removing of crusts. They will come away with time. I would warn against excessive internal manipulation where you cannot see as you may interfere with sutures, cartilage graft and the septum. After the surgery, sensation may be reduced so if it does not hurt, it does not mean it is ok.

My advice is to follow your surgeons recommendations closely. Use saline nasal spray and topical…

How long should a person wait post rhinoplasty before doing a chemical peel or laser skin resurfaci
Chemical peel or laser post rhinoplasty
May 5, 2019
I would wait 2 months before doing a chemical peel or laser after rhinoplasty. At this stage, resurfacing will really not have a negative impact on your result or swelling.
Make sure you do not expose your incision site to any laser or chemical peel as this will likely interfere with your scar healing in this area.

Aslo, confirm that your surgeon is happy with this as he should really be informed of this if you decide to go ahead.

Can I have a tissue expander put in to grow new skin and get rid of my stretch marks via tummy tuck
Tissue expander and stretch marks
May 5, 2019
Thanks for the question. It is an interesting one. Firstly, you need to consider what a stretch mark is. When the tissue is stretched, your dermis can rupture bringing about stretch marks. There is no cure for this problem although there is much investigations into treatments.

A tissue expander would be employed to stretch the skin, and in itself may bring about more stretch marks. In any event, this would need a number of operations, a high complication…

3 weeks post op tummy tuck, my incision reopened. Is this something to worry about or a sign of inf
Wound breakdown after a tummy tuck
May 5, 2019
Wound breakdown after a tummy tuck is not uncommon. Thankfully the images attached suggest a small breakdown. The wound looks mildy necrotic and would benefit from a different range of dressings.

I would suggest reviewing with your surgeon who would be eager to manage this problem before it gets worse. It is also something your GP may be happy to dress if he has an interest in wound care.

2 months after arm lipo and I’m still so tight and sore. Is this normal?
Pain and firmness after liposuction
May 5, 2019
Firmness and tenderness can last a couple of months after liposuction surgery. Ensure you massage and wear compression. If the problem persists, see your plastic surgeon at 3 months for a review. The issues should have settled by 3 months.

All the best.

How long does it take a seroma to go down after being drained? Or should it have gone after the asp
Seroma and swelling after breast reduction
May 5, 2019
A seroma develops after breast surgery as a large internal wound is created that then has nowhere to drain. Like when you graze your knee – fluid seeps out. But this would is way larger.

Some seromas need a single drainage to settle. others need recurrent drainage before it settles . My advice is that while you suffer with a stroke, see your surgeon weekly. You may have a combination of swelling and seroma and so once the seroma is removed, residual swelling…

Can doctors “anchor” the tissue internally when performing breast lifts so they are less likely to
Internal bra
May 5, 2019
Hi there,

You ask an interesting question – this is the holy grail of plastic surgery – how to defeat gravity. Surgeons have tried many options – anchoring sutures in the clavicle, internal mesh bra sutured to clavicle and ribs, breast held up by muscle strips.

Unfortunately, if you have thin skin and soft tissue, you are likely to resag. It sounds like this is happening. You may need another lift in a few years and I would not recommend any of the options…
