I don’t like doing microderm when there is active acne as I find that this can irritate the skin. Starting a series of salicylic acid peels can help both the acne and pigmentation. Also Differin was recently made available over the counter which can be started every other night to help combat the acne. I always recommend moisturizing before applying the Differin with a non-comedogenic, oil free moisturizer.

It is very difficult to completely get rid of acne scars. It can definitely be improved, but mulitple treatments are usually necessary. There aren’t any topical treatments that are extremely successful for acne scars as you want to create injury to stimulate a collagen response. I like treatments like micro needling or laser treatments to improve acne scarring.
