Answer Snippet
55 y/o concerned about hanging skin in neck, jowls, upper eyelids. Which technique would work best for
Combining a lifting procedure with upper eyelid surgery
Oct 30, 2022
In your neck, you do have some loose skin and platysma banding. That is where the muscles of the neck become lax and more visible dragging the skin down with it. You have some jowls or heaviness to the lower face and around the corners of the mouth. I would recommend a mini-lift procedure which addresses the lower face and neck. Typically, the muscle is tightened together like a corsett and the extra skin is removed from in front of the ears and behind the ears to minimize any visible...
I hate to smile now. How can I get my old face back?
Nasal tip lengthening with the aging process
Oct 30, 2022
It does appear that your tip of your nose has become slightly more ptotic or droopy as part of the aging process. This can result in loss of the appearance of the upper lip as the tip of the nose can make it appear that you have less upper lip. Also, as we age there is some thinning of the red upper lip as well. You can certainly do a limited tip rhinoplasty to raise your tip slightly and shorten the length of your nose. You may also consider some upper lip augmentation to increase the...
What type of incisions can I anticipate with a neck and facelift procedure?
Incisions for face and neck lifting procedures
Jul 31, 2022
Generally speaking whether you are having a complete facelift or a mini facelift type of procedure, the incisions are normally in the crease at the bottom of the ear and behind the tragus or ear pointer and into the temple hairline. Behind the ear, the incisions typically extend into the hairline although some surgeons make it at the edge of the hairline which can be more visible. There may also be a small incision under the chin to help with some of the excess muscle in that area and/or fat...
Smile looks downturned: what can I do to improve it?
Improving a full lower and round face
Jul 31, 2022
You might benefit from a buccal fat pad removal. This is a very simple procedure where a small incision is made inside your mouth to remove some of the fat near the corners of your mouth and would give you a less chubby or full appearance to your face. It can be done under local anesthesia or with mild sedation and is a permanent correction. I would recommend a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area for consultation. You can also add a small amount of filler to the corners of...
Am I a good candidate for a sliding genioplasty?
Chin augmentation
Jul 31, 2022
Based upon the one photograph of your profile, you may benefit from a chin augmentation and limited neck liposuction. While a sliding genioplasty is another option, the benefit of the implant is that it is permanent, medical grade plastic and safe and nonreactive. It sits on your bone and can be placed via small incision under your chin where some of the fat can also be removed to better define your neck and jaw line. It is less invasive than a genioplasty and can often be done under local...
48 year old, female: best options for neck?
Neck improvement in your 40's
Jul 4, 2022
The best improvement typically is a lower face and neck lift called a mini lift procedure. This would address the loose skin around the neck and jaw line. It is an outpatient procedure and typically takes a couple of hours to complete and the results last longer when you are in your 40's and 50's. There are less aggressive procedures at well that could be appropriate based upon an examination. I would recommend consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area.
Nose changed significantly since open septorhinoplasty. Can someone please provide insight to what cou
Tip swelling in open rhinoplasty procedures
Jul 3, 2022
I would wait at least 16 to 18 months before contemplating a revision surgery on the nasal tip. I would also go back and discuss with your surgeon whether any tip surgery was done or not. If no tip surgery was done, the tip should go back to its original position with time.
Can an upper lip lift be done with local anesthesia?
Upper lip lift and anesthesia.
Jul 3, 2022
Normally, I do all of my upper lip lifts under local anesthesia unless the procedure is being done in conjunction with other procedures that require a higher level of anesthesia. The procedure can be done with a dental block to make the upper lip area numb and it is a relatively short procedure so that you should not feel anything else once the area is anesthetized.
How to fix sagging skin around eyes?
Correcting lower lid skin laxity
Jul 3, 2022
You can consider a laser resurfacing procedure to tighten up the skin around the eyelid area. Another options would be to do a minor skin pinch to just remove the loose skin which can easily be done under local anesthesia. I would seek consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area.
Would I benefit from a lip lift? Will a lip lift help with my top teeth showing more?
Upper lip lift
Jun 27, 2022
The benefits of an upper lip lift are that it does allow you to see more dentition and teeth and it is a permanent procedure versus fillers. The objective of the surgery is to remove excess white or cutaneous upper lip in order to create more red lip show. It does appear that you have a smallish upper red lip and some excessive white upper lip that could be more balanced. I would recommend consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area.
Should I have lip reduction surgery?
Lip reduction surgery
Jun 27, 2022
Typically, the upper lip should be about 2/3 the size of the lower lip although that is not an absolute and personal preferences can affect your choices. A lip reduction or reduction cheiloplaslty is an outpatient procedure that can be done under local anesthesia or with sedation. The incisions was typically made inside the lip so that they are not visible and it can cause the upper lip to swell for about two weeks or so. Diet is also restricted after surgery and the surgery can be repeated...

Skin procedures after a face and neck lift
Feb 27, 2022
You might want to ask your surgeon who performed the procedure but I would think about 3 months should be sufficient to address skin issues after a lifting procedure.

Buccal fat removal
Feb 27, 2022
It does appear that the two areas of concern that you mentioned are in the area of buccal fat. There is a simple intraoral procedure that can be done to remove that area of fat through your mouth without a visible scar. Another option would be to add fat or volume to your upper face and cheek area as an alternative or in addition to removing buccal fat. Keep in mind you do not want to remove too much buccal fat as it can look sunken as you get older. I would recommend consultation with a...
Am I too young at 30 for a mini face-lift? What other options are there for my changing face?
Loose facial and neck skin in a younger. patient
Jan 22, 2022
It does appear from your profile that you do have some loose skin of your lower face and submental (region under your jaw) regions. Fillers are an option to add volume to your mid face and areas around the mouth. However, it will not lift your neck and jaw line. You also have some microgenia or short chin on the side view that would benefit from a chin implant. You can consider a minor lifting procedure of the neck and jaw or lower face region which would be minimally invasive and if you...
Would chin filler help my side profile?
Chin microgenia
Jan 22, 2022
Chin filler would help your side profile and it might be a good way to start and give you an idea of what your chin profile could look like. That being said, you might want to consider an anatomic chin implant to bring your chin forward and also augment the entire front and side jaw view areas. Typically, the chin should match the lower lip in profile and yours is several millimeters short. A small amount of focused liposuction of the submental or area under the chin can also help to give...
