After earning his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, Dr. Standefer attained his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Then, he completed both an internship in general surgery and a residency in otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Dr. Standefer is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to his impressive medical credentials, Dr. Standefer has received numerous awards. Hello and thanks for the question! First of all, the stress that goes with being chronically ill has certainly contributed to the loss of volume and relaxation you are seeing around your mouth. To replace that volume, you have a few choices. For immediate help, you can choose fat grafting or fillers depending on the amount of volume required. This can buy you some time so to speak.
