Browlift vs Blepharoplasty - which is best for sagging eyelids?
Browlift vs. Blepharoplasty
Aug 11, 2010
This question arises very frequently when patients are looking to enhance the ocular region.  These procedures address different issues. For patients who just have extra or redundant upper lid skin and puffiness a blepharoplasty would be the correct procedure.  For patients who have "heavy" brows which have descended from there normal position a brow lift would be the appropriate procedure. Many patients have both a "heavy" descending brow and redundant skin and...
Sutures not dissolving on upper eyelids?
Eyelid suture removal
Aug 11, 2010
Both dissolving and non dissolving sutures can cause irritation. I find that the dissolving sutures tend to cause more redness and swelling.  If you are having redness and irritation at 9 days and the sutures are still in place your doctor may want to remove them.  Usually sutures can be removed 5-7 days after upper eyelid surgery.
Is Botox only good for certain face wrinkles and lines?
Botox for facial wrinkkles
Jul 27, 2010
Botox works on wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement.  It is excellent for reducing wrinkles in the glabellar area, forehead and crows feet.  It can also reduce wrinkles in the neck area, around the mouth and chin area.  It is important to have an experienced surgeon perform the botox injections.
What are the requirements to have insurance cover blepharoplasty?
Insurance coverage and Blepharoplasty
Jul 14, 2010
Sometimes insurance companies will cover upper lid blepharoplasty.  Each insurance company will have different criteria for coverage.  If the excess skin hangs over the lids and blocks the superior vision insurance may cover it.  Your doctor will need to do a visual field test to determine if there is a superior visual field defect.  The insurance company may also require photos of the lids.
How to get a Latisse prescription
Latisse prescription
Jul 14, 2010
You do need a prescription for Latisse.  Any doctor can write a prescription for it.  I would recommend that you see an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon and have a complete eye exam before starting Latisse.
Will Latisse change eye color?
Latisse and eye color change
Jul 14, 2010
I personally have not seen this side effect from latisse.  Lumigan is an eye drop used for glaucoma.  This is basically the same compound as Latisse.  In some patients, Lumigan may cause a gradual change in eye color by increasing the amount of brown pigment in the iris (the colored part of your eye). This change may not be noticeable for several months to years. This effect most commonly occurs in people with mixed eye color (hazel).

With Latisse the incidence of...

What are good Restylane alternatives?
Restylane Alternatives
Jun 23, 2010
Restylane is an excellent dermal filler.  There are other hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers on the market as well.  These include Juvederm, Juvederm ultra and Perlane.  All of these work very well.  It is important to discuss all the alternatives with your doctor.  The choice of filler will depend on the doctors preference and the area to be treated.
