Is it possible to stop my nose drooping when I smile?
Droopy nose rhinoplasty
Jul 18, 2019
This is a very common question with many rhinoplasty patients. There are a number of maneuvers that can be performed as part of the rhinoplasty operation that will help stabilise the tip and prevent it drooping when you smile. One established technique is called an open structured rhinoplasty utilizing a septal extension graft and tip suspension. Find an experienced facial plastic surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty to discuss with. Best wishes
Should I cancel my rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty decision making
Jul 18, 2019
Hi Sunnydee,
It sounds like you are not ready. Having rhinoplasty surgery is an enormous decision and one that will either have a profound positive impact on your life or a very negative impact. Once you have the procedure, you cannot change your mind and have it un-done. Only proceed with surgery if you are 100% sure you want it and your are 100% confident in your surgeon. Best of luck
Do I need an alar base reduction?
Alar base reduction
Jul 18, 2019
As mentioned by the other surgeons on this thread, a frontal or basal image is required to make this assessment. Your rhinoplasty surgeon is the best person to assess this. On most occasions it is best to assess the need for alar base alteration towards the end of the operation. If the alar base feels disproportionate to the rest of the nose, then a decision can be made by your surgeon at that time. Additionally, if it is not performed at your initial…
Will Rhinoplasty still go ahead with eye infection?
Conjunctivitis prior to rhinoplasty surgery
Jul 18, 2019
Generally speaking, it shouldn’t be an issue at all. Presuming that your local doctor has already started topical eye drops, a minor conjunctival infection should settle within a few days. Even if it hasn’t completely, it shouldn’t affect the ability to perform a rhinoplasty or the outcome. Best inform your rhinoplasty surgeon as soon as possible and get their personal opinion. Best wishes.
Can my nose be made smaller?
Rhinoplasty
Jul 18, 2019
A rhinoplasty can certainly help provide balance to your face. Reducing the overall size, elevating the nasal tip, refining the nasal tip and narrowing the nostrils are common goals for many patients considering this procedure. One challenge that I can see from your photos is the thick skin over the bridge and tip. Best have a formal consultation with an experience rhinoplasty surgeon. Have a look at their before and after photos of patients with similar noses to you. …
Can I get a more upturned nose without implants or grafts?
Asian Rhinoplasty
Jul 18, 2019
Thanks for posting your photos. It’s quite possible to achieve a more projected and refined nasal tip using cartilage harvested from your septum alone. However, sometimes the septal cartilage is not sufficient or adequate for the structural grafts required. Asians often have very weak and flimsy cartilage, sometimes there is not enough cartilage and sometimes the cartilage is bent and mangled. An experienced rhinoplasty surgeon should always have a back-up plan,…
Dent on the side of my nose. How can I fix it?
Asymmetrical Tip
Jul 18, 2019
The dent on the left side of your nose is a result of the underlying tip cartilage shape (Lower lateral cartilage). If you do not have a history of previous nasal surgery or significant trauma, it is most likely congenital in nature. The best way to address this would be with an open structured rhinoplasty performed by an experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon or Plastic surgeon.
