Statement: Dr. Barry M. Weintraub, MD, FACS is a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City with over 30 years of experience. As a top plastic surgeon in NYC, he takes a “less is more” approach by prioritizing conservative, understated attention to detail that allows his patients’ natural beauty to shine through. “I always remember that every surgical result will be with my patients for the rest of their lives. Therefore, I do not rush my surgeries,” says Dr. Weintraub. “Precision and care ensure long-lasting and natural-looking results.”

Dr. Weintraub specializes in plastic surgery of the face and body, specializing in rhinoplasty, facelift and neck lifts, and breast enhancement, using the transaxillary approach (which places the implants through an incision in the armpit). He’s proud to utilize the most cutting-edge technologies to ensure procedures are minimally invasive, while providing maximum benefits to his patients.

After graduating magna cum laude from Brandeis University, Dr. Weintraub obtained his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then completed internships at UCLA Medical Center’s Harbor General Hospital, did his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and completed his plastic surgical fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Over his 35-plus year tenure as an esteemed plastic surgeon in New York City, he’s gained membership into the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Rhinoplasty Society, and the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons. He’s also an American College of Surgeons fellow.

Because of impressive experience and Ivy League credentials, Dr. Weintraub is often consulted by his peers on complex plastic surgery cases. He is comfortable with every level of challenge and prides himself in delivering results that patients will be happy with for the rest of their lives.

Dr. Weintraub feels it’s extremely important to address all questions during a consultation. For this reason, he schedules a full hour to discuss every detail with new patients. Those who aren’t in NYC can complete their consultation via video chat and/or a phone call.

Consulting Fees: -1$
Consultation note: Dr. Weintraub believes in answering all patient questions during consultation, and for this reason, he schedules a full hour for every new patient. For overseas patients, he will Skype or conduct phone consultations.

Columella continues dropping after 6 months. Do I need a revision?
Too much nostril show
Dec 8, 2022
Judging from the photograph you submitted, it appears that you have too much nostril show visible on the right nasal aperture. High-quality cosmetic nasal surgery is detailed and complex, always with a keen eye towards natural beauty. This can be fixed by raising the columella ever so slightly and making the nasolabial angle a bit less obtuse so the columella does not appear to hang. This is something that is commonly seen in my practice. Thank you very much for your inquiry and the ability...
Use of fresh septal cartilage of another patient?
Revision Rhinoplasty - Deantigenized Cartilage - Scary or Not?
Nov 17, 2022
One can use deantigenized cartilage to reconstruct your nose when there is no longer your own septum available. This sophisticated revision-rhinoplasty technique solves many problems, and for this reason, it is regularly employed in my revision-rhinoplasty practice. Deantigenized cadaveric cartilage is utilized to carve as necessary in an effort to reconstruct the nasal cartilaginous structure when a patient's original septal cartilage has been removed during a prior procedure. Please keep...
What can I do for a more balanced look between chin, nose and brow ridge?
Chin Augmentation and Rhinoplasty: a Winning Combination!
Oct 25, 2022
As a board certified plastic surgeon, I hear concerns like yours on a very regular basis, as facial disharmony often prompts patients to schedule a consultation. Your nose appears to be a bit long, and your chin, while not retrusive, is somewhat on the small side. Your brow and frontal bone are normal and should not be addressed surgically. The combination of rhinoplasty and chin augmentation is routinely performed to wonderful effect, yielding a more balanced, harmonious face. The...

What I love most about rhinoplasty surgery is that it is totally personal, and I cater my surgical plan to the desire of my patients – as long as patients request something that looks like it organically belongs on their face. There are many different types of surgeons out there, as there are many different types of patients. The surgeon in Turkey who produced a “Barbie” nose is obviously not a good fit for you, so I encourage you to keep searching for someone who shares your same aesth...

The Good and Bad about Filler vs. Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Oct 25, 2022
I have good and bad news for you: the bad news is that surgery would be the best solution for your undereye bags; however, the good news is that you are young and don’t have excess loose skin (based on the photos), so the incision could be hidden on the inside of your eyelids without any evidence of surgery on the outside of your face. This procedure is called a “transconjunctival blepharoplasty” and is one of the most effective surgeries with a very short recovery period. For examp...

Revision Rhinoplasty Materials - What Works, What Doesn't
Oct 23, 2022
The answer depends on the level of skill of your surgeon. No question that having had a prior rhinoplasty with a silicone implant can make matters a bit tricky, but because the blood supply to the nose is robust, you are likely to do well with a revision if your surgeon is experienced. The choice of materials for revision surgery has improved in recent years: instead of Gortex (which is synthetic and can extrude) and/or ear cartilage, I have found that deantigenized cartilage allows for...

Revision rhinoplasty for visible graft
Oct 20, 2022
Just based on the photos, I do see the curve that you are referring to, as well as the graft. It does appear that you would be a good candidate for a revision rhinoplasty, but a physical exam would be necessary to be certain. It would also be helpful for you to obtain your surgical operative report to bring with you. The pressure on the tip of your nose is of concern, as it can lead to real issues down the line. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon who has decades...

Rhinoplasty for traumatic deformity
Oct 20, 2022
As a board certified plastic surgeon who has been performing rhinoplasty surgery, as well as revision rhinoplasty surgery, for decades, I would advise you to meet with several experienced board certified plastic surgeons. Cases that involve traumatic deformity are complicated and should be left to the experts. A physical exam is the only way to determine exactly what would be needed to correct your issues. Very likely a filing of the bump, a trimming of the lower-lateral cartilages, along...
Am I ready for a necklift/lower facelift?
When to get a facelift
Oct 20, 2022
You have excellent bone structure but are beginning to show the normal signs of the ageing face, such as the jowls that cross over your jawline. There is no perfect age to have a facelift or neck lift: ageing shows itself differently with each person based on genetics, environmental effects, health, etc. If a patient is tired of seeing the gravitational effects of the ageing face, then that person is a good candidate. In your case, it does appear that your anatomy would lend itself to a...
Is it possible for any face lifting technique to specifically target superficial fat pads?
What gets targeted with a facelift
Oct 18, 2022
In addition to addressing skin laxity during face- and neck-lift surgery, fat pads in certain areas can be directly targeted as well. Besides the repositioning of facial fat, two areas are amenable to direct fat-pad extraction: 1)superficially, the jowls can be removed with a very fine 2.4mm cannula on a very low power-assist setting accessed via a 2mm dot behind the earlobe; 2)secondly, people who are concerned with "round/puffy" facial structures, who lack desired definition, can under...

Age for a facelift
Oct 13, 2022
Some people look young at 60, while others at 40 can look older. Ageing is the result of many factors such as genetics, health, environmental exposure, weight, etc. In other words, there is not a set age for facelift surgery. I have found that my male facelift patients, when I meet them in consultation, are nervous about incisions, referencing the social stigma of men having surgery. However, you would be surprised how many men I operate on! Quite a number of my postoperative patients state...
Nose doesn't blend into face: Can anything be done to fix my original nose job?
Revision rhinoplasty for facial harmony
Oct 13, 2022
As a board certified plastic surgeon who has been performing revision rhinoplasties for decades, I often consult with patients who have had unpleasant results from other offices. Just based on your photos, it appears that a revision rhinoplasty could help with your concerns, but a physical exam would be necessary. The crookedness could be addressed as well as how, as you state, the nose doesn’t “blend” well with your features. I would like to see profile views in order to make a more accur...

Rhinoplasty combined with blepharoplasty and fat grafting
Oct 13, 2022
The answers to your questions depend on the specifics of you and your surgeon. Not knowing these details, I can share my own experience as a board certified plastic surgeon in an effort to help you: I routinely perform these procedures in conjunction with each other, and the length of time depends on what precisely needs to be accomplished. Remember, surgery is not a horserace, and being meticulous and not rushing is paramount to safety and a good result. I do not consider an operation to...

Revision Rhinoplasty
Oct 11, 2022
I hear your concerns and see what you are describing in your pictures. An in-person exam would be very helpful to determine which internal anatomical structures are still existent after your original surgery. I see that your tip does indeed plunge, which makes you look older than your stated age, as a plunging tip is indicative of the ageing process. Most important when considering any kind of rhinoplasty surgery is to study the surgeon’s before-and-after photos. Does the surgeon produce u...

Masculine rhinoplasty
Oct 11, 2022
You have a very good understanding of your nasal configuration. As a board certified plastic surgeon who performs countless rhinoplasties every year, I hear concerns like yours quite frequently. It is possible to create a more masculine nose by adding grafts to increase bridge height, whether the graft(s) originate from your own cartilage (ear, septum etc.), or from an implant. Male rhinoplasty, when performed properly, has a different aesthetic, and the goal should be a handsome, masculine...
