Transexamic Acid (Txa) use to prevent bruising-experience and risk?
TXA on every facelfit
Jan 11, 2022
Hello Brisa,
I would recommend TXA with your facelift to reduce the risk of bruising. Personally I use it with every facelift, and facial surgery I perform and find it has been very effective at reducing bleeding and bruising. If your doctor is familiar with using TXA then he/she would most likely incorporate its use. If not, it's fine to ask about it and politely request it for your surgery.
Why would a scar be done in front of the ear when it can be hidden behind the ear?
incision locations
Jul 14, 2021
All facelifts need to remove some skin from in front of the ear (as opposed to behind the ear, under the ear). I'm not sure if you are referring to incisions placed behind the tragus (by the ear canal) as opposed to in front of the ear on the cheek. These may be surgeon dependent, or dependent on the patient's anatomy. Also, incisions are placed in different locations so as not to move the sideburns back in men especially. Either way, well done incisions/ closures should yield...
Am I a candidate for a mommy makeover with BMI 37?
Mommy makeover
Apr 26, 2021
My short answer would be yes. Of course, I'd ask you if you thought you could lose some weight that you should do it before surgery, even 15 pounds would make a difference in the overall outcome. That being said, a BMI of 35-38 is about my upper level of where I think the pros outweigh the cons for a healthy patient for a mommy makeover. You can look at some of my before and afters to see what kind of results can be achieved. I would want you to have a thorough discussion with your surgeon...
1-month post-NeoGraft: Is it normal to have this slightly raised tissue?
This appears normal
Apr 26, 2021
I think you are seeing post-surgery swelling causing a dimpled appearance. It is also normal to have redness as new blood vessel growth is occurring. Changes in pigmentation of the skin can also be seen. Nothing to worry about.
How long is the usual time to take off work after a mommy makeover?
Depends on your work
Mar 3, 2020
After a mommy makeover, I usually tell patients a minimum of 10 days-2 weeks if you have light duty or desk type work.  If work is more strenuous I recommend 2-3 weeks total time off. I like patients to return to light activity, meaning walking and getting heart rate up, as soon as possible as I feel it speed the healing process, just nothing strenuous.
PRP for hair loss. My doctor won't administer anesthesia before the procedure. Is this normal?
anesthetic
Mar 3, 2020
I have personally found PRP scalp injections to be quit painful.  We  use a combination of local anesthetic and Pronox (nitrous oxide) to make it tolerable.  With this routine patients rarely complain of significant discomfort.
Is it normal to feel depressed after Neograft surgery?
This is totally normal!
Dec 18, 2019
Hello there- no need to worry!  Feelings of decreased energy and sadness are common after any surgical procedures.  Many stress hormones are released during the trauma of a procedure and it can take a week or two to feel normal again.  Energy levels after larger surgeries can take a month or more to return.  So go easy on yourself and know this is totally normal!
When is it safe to restart low level laser therapy (LLLT) after 2500 FUE Neograft procedure?
LLLT
Dec 18, 2019
As others have said, there is no consensus of thought on restarting LLLT after transplant, but I would say above all, don't touch the grafts.  The LLLT itself is likely safe starting the day after the procedure.
Chin Augmentation ~ Results you can Expect?
many good answers
Dec 18, 2019
You have received many accurate and complete answers below.  However, I can add a different technique to consider. For modest increases in chin projection I use a non-surgical technique using a permanent filler called Belllafill.  It will stimulate your body to create its own tissue and can be done incrementally to achieve just the result you desire non-surgically.  I still do implants, but fewer these days.
Banana roll area skin reduction. Do I need a lift? I know cutting to the gluteal fold is not advisab
banana rolls
Dec 18, 2019
Thank you for the question.  As others have said here, banana rolls are difficult to treat because if you remove enough skin to make them disappear when standing, when you flex your hip, you will widen the scar or worse limit your motion.  An in person consultation is the best way to proceed here as each person's skin quality differs and so too would the recommended treatments.
What can be done to fix a chin bulge and neck fibrosis after liposuction?
contour of neck
Dec 18, 2019
Thank you for the photo, but without more information it is difficult to assess.  If this procedure was done recently, within the last 6 months, it is quite possible this is just post op edema still and will improve as time passes.  Either way, I would let a year pass before considering any revisions if needed.
What kind of hair loss do I have? Is this alopecia areata?
photo
Dec 3, 2019
From the photo you submitted, this does not appear to be allopecia areata.  It is best investigated by a dermatologist and it may require a scalp biopsy to determine what the underlying problem is.  Unfortunately this is about all I can say given just the photo.
LLLT for hair loss. What is the difference between LEDs and Laser Diodes?
home light treatments
Dec 3, 2019
I won't reiterate what others have said before except to emphasize that consumer purchased devices will have lower power as compared to professional units.  However, the key to these therapies is consistency.  One must use them routinely to see benefits and often it is hard to develop a routine that incorporates these treatments.  Also, as others have said, combination treatments with PRP, rogaine, or finesteride  will show the best results.
What is the success rate of FUE Neograft transplant in women with thin hair and balding?
neograft success
Oct 9, 2019
In my practice women and men experience a high success rate (graft survival around 90-95%).  The key is to make sure any underlying medical/ hormonal issues are controlled and then to supplement hair growth with other strategies like PRP (platlet rich plasma) and topicals as indicated.   The results can be profound.
How close under my eyes can Sciton Microlaser peel treat? Will it help with my acne scarring, smile
MLP
Aug 13, 2019
A micro laser peel can be done up to the eyelash margin but requires laser proof corneal shields.I like this procedure very much for fine lines of lower eyelids but it is an advanced technique and should only be done by a doctor who knows how to properly ensure corneal protection.
