Doctors
She offers a variety of surgical procedures offered at her practice, Union Square Facial Plastic Surgery, including facelifts, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), eye lifts (blepharoplasty), brow lifts, and ear reshaping (otoplasty). Nonsurgical procedures she performs include dermal fillers (such as Restylane and Juvéderm) and other injectables (like Botox and Dysport); Ultherapy for nonsurgical facelifts, eyelifts, and brow lifts, and chemical peels. “We have so many great tools in our armamentarium now for facial rejuvenation and anti-aging,” says Dr. Chiu-Collins. “Not everyone requires surgery.”
That’s why Dr. Chiu-Collins believes it’s so important to seek out a practitioner with expertise in both surgical and nonsurgical approaches to your concerns. For instance, she says, “Doing filler with a surgical level of expertise really allows semi-surgical results nonsurgically,” she says. “After having fillers, some of my patients go home and confuse everybody because they kind of look like they’ve had a facelift or browlift—and nothing’s been done except for having fillers and Botox.”
A Bay Area native and mother of three, Dr. Chiu-Collins graduated from Stanford University with honors and distinctions. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in otolaryngology — head and neck surgery at the University of Washington. She then completed the prestigious fellowship in facial plastic surgery at the University of California, Irvine, under the auspices of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Chiu-Collins is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. She’s a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
At Union Square Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Chiu-Collins believes that open communication is key to receiving the results you’re after. “It’s important to make sure your goals are being heard,” says Dr. Chiu-Collins, who personally performs extensive consultations with all her patients. “The time a provider spends with you during the consultation is very indicative of the time you’ll be given as a patient. You should feel 100 percent comfortable asking all of your questions, and you shouldn’t leave your consultation feeling like you were rushed or that anything was unanswered.”
