Can this areola tissue on my scar be revised?
most commonly, areola left behind in the breast reduction scars can be removed if the breast shape also need correction.
Jan 1, 2022
I’m sorry that your outcome was not quite what you were expecting – this is a common issue in women with large areolas, but it’s of course difficult to deal with when faced with the problem in the preop area. Briefly – I would say that you’re a good candidate for a revision, as the breasts appear somewhat bottom-heavy and ptotic (“droopy”), and revising the shape would allow the breast to become perkier, move the nipple higher, and tighten the lower pole by removing that stripe of pigmented…
Why is my eyelid uneven 10 months post-op blepharoplasty?
A-frame deformity after blepharoplasty
Dec 13, 2021
You have an excellent example of something called an A-frame deformity – this is something that can be quite common unfortunately, and was a popular ‘look’ a couple decades ago. The issue is lack of volume underneath the brow (where the ‘peak’ is) – this is caused by excessive skin resection or fat excision in the area. Correction can be done with fat grafting that site and you may be able to achieve a good result with that. If you think intuitively that putting fat there in unattractive,…
Much of your information here is in direct conflict with other things I have read about deep plane
Recovery and Sedation for deep plane vs SMAS facelift
Dec 13, 2021
Recovery times are an often cited advantage of the deep plane techniques – by doing less dissection, there is less injury to tissues and therefore less swelling, and theoretically less pain. The other advantage is that because there is less dissection, the deep plane can be executed much quicker than a technique involving development of a SMAS flap. Either one can be done under sedation (even oral sedation in the office procedure room, in some cases), but patients usually can’t tolerate an 5…
Do I have a negative canthal tilt?
canthal tilt and facial appearance
Sep 29, 2021
Based on that photo, you do not – canthal tilt is simply looking at whether the lateral (outside) canthus (corner of the eye) is positioned higher or lower vs the medial (inside) canthus. For a negative tilt, it would be positioned lower, creating an unattractive “sad clown” appearance.
What type of surgery would be ideal for my situation to make my eyes more symmetrical?
Ptosis in childhood
Sep 29, 2021
While more common in older folks, or those experiencing neuromuscular disorders, there are a number of younger people that naturally have a little bit of eyelid asymmetry due to a congenital ptosis. Looking at your photo, it seems like the left eyelid sits lower on the iris and you’re raising the left brow to compensate and try to hike it up. This can be fixed with a straightforward ptosis repair under local anesthesia in clinic, but obviously you’d want to see a surgeon in person to make…
Would fillers or surgery be the best option for lower bags, with one bag more prominent?
Orbicularis vs fat pad herniation
Sep 29, 2021
Great question – in your cropped photo, it looks like you have a reasonable amount of lower lid fat pad herniation which is very easily addressed with a transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty, with a laser or peel to tighten up the skin in the area and a little bit of fat grafting to smooth out the transition onto the upper cheek. I would agree that fillers in that area are a poor choice as you’re already considering surgery and there is clearly an anatomical issue that should be…
Transcutaneous vs Transconjunctival blepharoplasty on black skin – which is better?
Transcutaneous vs transconj lower blep
Sep 29, 2021
What exactly are you trying to correct regarding your lower lids? A transcutaneous approach has the advantage of being able to take out excess skin, but it doesn’t seem like you have much of that, and your lower lid fat pads are very mild, and could easily be taken out through a transconj approach. However, a surgeon that does a high number of blepharoplasties is usually comfortable with either approach and likely has a good reason for going transcutaneous. However, make sure you discuss the…
