EVLT Type Procedures Worth It for Varicose Veins?
Treat varicose veins
Jul 3, 2018
If you have varicose veins, they can be treated. Ask your vascular surgeon what Toby suggest to make your legs feel better. If they don’t ha e an answer go somewhere else and find someone who can address the veins that bother you.
Can laser varicose vein removal cause DVT (I am a 55 year old woman)?
DVT
Apr 15, 2018
When people speak of laser treatment for veins, they are referring to one of the following two scenarios. Number one is that some offices utilize a laser to treat surface vans, such as spider veins and reticular veins. The chance of a DVT after treating these superficial veins should be close to zero. The other scenario is when s laser is used to close a vein such as the saphenous vein. In this situation, as long as your doctor knows what he or she is…
EVLT treatment on bulging hand and wrist veins.
Hand veins
Apr 9, 2018
Two options for treating hand veins that you find unsightly include The injection of foam (sclerotherapy) or performing a phlebectomy. Not all vein doctors work on the hands however these two treatments are both very effective for resolving unsightly hand veins.
Sclerotherapy and laser treated vein looks darker than before. Will it ever go away?
Staining
Apr 9, 2018
When treating visible veins, we usually inject the larger ones and use laser on the smaller ones. It looks like you had a varicose vein that coursed down your inner leg and across your calf. They most likely injected that with foam. Some patients experience staining after these procedures which is where hemosiderin from the blood stains the skin above the vein that was treated. This can be prevented if the clot in these veins is evacuated with in the first week of…
Is it normal for the vein to hurt more now than prior to schlerotherapy?
Pain after sclerotherapy
Apr 9, 2018
Whenever we do sclerotherapy on larger veins, they become a little bit tender, red, and hard. Often times I will see the patient back within the first 3 to 5 days after the procedure to rvaluate for this problem. If it is present, what I will do is use a very small needle to puncture the vein and then express the clotted blood out of the vein. This typically makes it feel a lot better and makes it go away a lot faster.
Follow-Up: How soon after EVLT and sclero should I get laser?
Matting
Apr 9, 2018
Matting is a very intense inflammatory response to your initial sclerotherapy. Usually, the best way to approach matting is to leave it alone for at least 6 to 9 months. After that time, laser treatment may be effective, however this type of vein problem is extremely stubborn and very difficult to clear up completely.
Are these brown knots related to varicose veins or could they be related to skin cancer.
Brown spots on legs
Apr 9, 2018
The spots in your photo are very typical for skin changes associated with chronic venous insufficiency. Varicose vein problems are genetic and really never cured. Even though you have had your veins stripped in the past, there is a high chance you have developed recurrent vein disease. Treating vein problems in patients who have had stripping is a bit trickier than treating patients who have never had surgery. Be sure to find an experienced vein surgeon to evaluate your legs with an…
