Statement: Dr. Charles S. Lee is a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Beverly Hills, California. He specializes in facial aesthetics, such as eyelid enhancement, rhinoplasty, and facelifts.

Dr. Lee has a special interest in Asian aesthetic plastic surgery and is a trailblazer in the field. He was one of the first surgeons in North America to use Botox to slim the jawline of Asian patients and treat teeth grinding. As a respected authority of Asian-focused facial plastic surgery, Dr. Lee has lent his vast knowledge of the subject to various medical textbooks, courses, presentations, and panels.

Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. What I find with side pictures is that oftentimes patients are looking for subtle changes mostly to the height of their nose or a more defined tip which is not as easy to see from the frontal view.

The exotic upward slant to the eye area is accomplished by a combination of lateral canthopexy, in which the outside corner of the eyes are attached to a higher position along the eye socket. To prevent crowding in this outer area, a temple lift is performed at the same time in order to create the outer area "sweep".

The left eye muscle is not opening as well as the right side - this is corrected by reinserting the muscle more tightly to the lid cartilage. Your brows will descend as a result of this surgery, since your brows will not need to pull so much to help the eyes see better. The drop will occur over both eyes. On patient with thin skin, typically Northern European background, a buried running suture can work well. For other ethnicities with somewhat thicker skin, I prefer a combination of interrupted and running sutures. Interrupted sutures give a more precise closure but are tedious (and tender) to remove, so a running is combined to reduce the need for interrupteds that run full length.
