Mohs Reconstruction: Restoring Beauty and Health after Skin Cancer Resection
Our latest success story showcases the remarkable transformation of this sweet woman who was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on her left nasal tip.
Cancer can be an overwhelming adversary, impacting not only one’s health but also self-confidence and appearance. Once removed and cured, the defect can be emotionally devastating. This case highlights the dual challenges faced by our patient.
Utilizing the advanced technique of Mohs reconstruction, our dermatology colleagues delicately removed the cancerous tissue while preserving as much healthy skin as possible. Her preference was the quickest recovery with the least amount of at-home care. Sometimes a paramedian forehead flap can be used for these with excellent results, but it comes at a cost of 2-3 stages of reconstruction. Instead, we were able to reconstruct the nose with local skin flaps in the office, ensuring long-lasting results and minimal downtime.
