Rhinoplasty to remove hump an option for patient with thin skin?
Hump removal rhinoplasty is possible with thin skin
Mar 16, 2010
You have a hump that can very easily be removed with a closed rhinoplasty technique. This is performed with incisions inside the nose and no external scars. The recovery time is shorter with this approach.
How long before swelling subsides after MACS facelift?
Swelling After a MACS Face Lift
Mar 16, 2010
After a MACS face lift which is a type of mini face lift swelling usually lasts 1 to 2 weeks. Even though it is a more limited surgery all face lifts can still take up to two weeks for swelling to resolve. I think you should however see your surgeon to make sure you do not have a hematoma that would cause swelling and bruising under the skin. I often will prescribe diuretics 1 week after surgery to reduce residual swelling,
What questions should I ask when picking a rhinoplasty surgeon?
Rhinoplasty questions to ask your doctor
Mar 14, 2010
There are some key questions I think you should ask your doctor. First how many rhinoplasty surgeries does he/she perform in a year. A surgeon who has a lot of experience with this surgery should perform at least 50 a year. Also the doctor should perform many revision rhinoplasty surgeries as the best way for a surgeon to have a lower rate of complications is to have experience in revising surgery performed elsewhere. Also ask the doctor his revision rate for his/her own patients.
How long should swelling and numbness last after a facelift?
Facelift Recovery Times
Mar 14, 2010
The initial bruising and swelling after a face lift lasts about 7 to ten days, with 80% clearing in this time frame. The last 20 % of the swelling can last up to 3 weeks. The numbness lasts about 3 months until it completely resolves.
What’s the difference between a lower facelift and a SMAS facelift?
Not all facelifts are SMAS
Mar 14, 2010
The SMAS is a complex structure of the face that is the supporting muscle and tissue of the face. Many facelifts are performed by lifting and tightening the skin that gives it a pulled stretched skin appearance. Lifts that tighten this SMAS result in a more natural and longer lasting result.
How long do PSP or MACS facelift results last?
MACS facelifts results last depending upon degree of muscle and skin laxity
Mar 2, 2010
MACS lifts are shorter incision lifts with less skin elevation and less muscle tightening of the SMAS in the face. For droopier faces with excessive neck skin and more muscle weakening the results of a MACS lift is shorter lived. For a good candidate requiring less muscle and skin tightening this lift can last 10 years.
Nose still over-projected after rhinoplasty
Overprojecting tip after rhinoplasty
Mar 2, 2010
Many times after rhinoplasty the nasal tip will before overprojected due to placement of columellar struts or tips grafts. The tip often feels rigid. It softens over time and deprojects so I would surely wait at least 9 months before making any judgments.
Can wearing a splint over nose longer than a week help rhinoplasty results?
Nasal splint is protective for one week
Mar 2, 2010
Wearing a cast helps protect the nasal bones after rhinoplasty. It does help mold the nose, and will not help shape the cartilages. Wearing it longer does not improve the result.
Facelift to correct numerous rolling acne scars?
Face lift can significantly improve acne scarring
Mar 2, 2010
I perform laser skin resurfacing, fraxel laser resurfacing, fat transfers, scar excisions and face lifts for acne scarring treatment.
Not every case is the same, but for patients over 40, I have found that facelifting is one of the most effective treatments for acne scarring.
How much downtime should I expect after rhinoplasty surgery?
Rhinoplasty usually has a one week downtime
Feb 23, 2010
After Rhinoplasty surgery some patients have some bruising around the eyes that lasts for 5 days. Once the cast is removed at 7 days the nose is usually a little swollen, but it was made smaller during surgery so the net result is that it is not perceived. I have many professional patients that can go back to work after one week without issue.
Realistic result of scar from facelift?
Face Lift scars should heal well enough that they are not perceived
Feb 23, 2010
In non-smokers, the incisions lines can be performed so they are hidden in the hairline, inside the ear canal and behind the ears so that even with a short hair cut or the hair in a pony tail they cannot be seen.
Mid face lift for malar bags?
Midface Lift Surgery improves malar bags
Feb 23, 2010
Malar bags are one of the most difficult problems to correct. An endoscopic midface lift performed from the temple area I have found to improve these bags by a minimum of 50 % and usually more. Traditional face lift and eyelid lift surgery will not do this.
Rhinoplasty under local anesthesia?
Rhinoplasty can be done under local anesthesia
Feb 22, 2010
I regularly perform rhinoplasty under local anesthesia. To help patients we usually will give a mild sedative in pill form. The surgery takes 1 to 1 and a 1/2 hours. There is usually less bruising and no nausea with this technique. I suggest it to patients who think they can do it.
Will it be obvious if a patient had a Rhinoplasty?
A well balanced rhinoplasty surgery can be inconspicuous
Feb 22, 2010
When rhinoplasty has good aesthetic balance, others will think you look better for other reasons, a new haircut, losing weight, etc. It is only when rhinoplasty is overdone with a skin slope bridge, pinched tip, and pig like upturned nose that people will be clued in.
Swelling under eyes after upper eyelid blepharoplasty
Swelling of lower eyelid after Blepharoplasty is common
Feb 22, 2010
With all facial plastic surgery the swelling from surgery will gravitate downward due to gravity. From upper blepharoplasty to the lower eyelids, from lower blepharoplasty to the cheeks, from cheek or midface lift surgery to the jawline and neck. This swelling will resolve. Taking homeopathic Arnica Montana and Bromelaine can help.
